First 4 shot group with new barrel on 6.5 creedmoor

Every time I see a Savage shoot a group like that I can't help but wonder why I waited months and spent and extra grand on a Remmy build.

yup, my savage and CBI barrel do the same thing with 120 amaxs, 140 bthp, and 139 scenars...dont think i could ever justify having a custom build other than a show piece...great looking rifle and shootin OP

What kind of speeds are yall getting from your 6.5 creedmoor's and CBI barrels? If I could get 2900 with a 130 Berger, I would go that route instead of a 6.5x284. I am considering a light weight hunting gun with 22-24" tube.

sorry, my CBI is a 260 rem finished at 24", but i have gotten 2840 with the 139s (litte hot) but dope verified out to 1000 yds...i run the 140s and 120s @ 2750 and 2800 respectively and they are very mild loads but really accurate...and i shoot at sea level

Good to see, got the same barrel in the works for my 10PC.

thanks for the replies, so far the barrel seems great, should get better once the barrel gets broke in good, I hope. And as long as I do my part, I get a little rusty when I am gone on jobs, I might not get to shoot months at a time.

The sickness starts with a savage then its rem addiction and then on to customs. Nice shooting

I've been messing with Remington and considering having one trued and new barrel fitted or going with a custom but seeing so many untouched Savage actions with DIY home barrel swaps shoot so well sure is tempting.

Mines is reverse, I got several customs that don't shoot that good

Same for me. It's just so easy to do with a Savage it's hard not to go that route now.
I won't say they are the most robust but neither are Remingtons.
Some say they won't have one because they aren't pretty enough.
To each his own.
I have an old Southgate Weatherby and an older Sako I like looking at.

Congrats on your nice rifle.

I get 2930 with the 130 Berger out of my Savage 10 Predator Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel. 2900 fps should be very easy with a 24-26" barrel.

Don't get caught up in all the hoopla like I did. The only results that matter are on paper and behind the shoulder on big bucks. I started with a savage 110 I rebarreled with a mcgowan to 7 mag. Other than a full blown 4000$ custom .308 f/tr gun that I have, it was the best shooting gun I have ever owned. The second best is a bone stock factory stevens 200 .223 that I bedded that shoots honest .25" groups at 100 and I've hit 10/10 on a 8" steel plate at 750 yards with. I'm done with customs!!!!!!

Sorry jsthntn but I have to do it ! Please show all those back to back .250 your claiming out of that factory barrel. Not calling you a liar I just love to see things I have never seen!

Glad to see the savage shooting so good. I just got a barreled action back from having bolt face, and reciever face trued and had a CBI barrel installed and chopped to 22 inches in 260. Have it in a HS precision M24 stock with factory DBM setup and SSS trigger. Sure is a handy little package and just got done making some test loads now just got to try them out. Great shooting.

Sounds like a good package, any pics?

Aint got it painted yet was going to see how it shoots first. This is by far my cheapest rifle so I am anxious to see how she does.

Running savage DBM at the moment but think I am going to go ahead and order some CDI bottom metal before sending it out for paint. Cant get over the feel of the rifle. The SSS trigger is superb and with the 22 inch barrel it is very handy. Prolly going to do full multicam paint on entire rifle and use it for a little varmint rig. Is a shade lighter than all my high end customs. Was also thinking of getting rid of the HS stock and getting a manners T5 as well as I just dont care for the HS stock and I love manners. Your rifle is pretty awesome looking. Great setup brother.

Well make me an offer buddy, would prolly consider getting rid of it with the savage dbm setup in it. Pretty sure this rifle will be for sale in a week or so. I am going to give it a try but when I go shoot with my buddies and we are normally shooting high end customs and I pull this ol girl out not sure if they will let me shoot with them. LOL

Well finally got to shoot the ol girl. I did barrel break in and did a few group shots with just an off the wall load to fireform brass. All of these were three different loads with the best being 42.3gr of 4350 in lapua brass and 140 amax. Seems to have potential.

Looks like a shooter, dsnipe. I bet it'll shoot lights out when you nail down a load.

Well the 42.3 was the clover group and it definetly shot good. Have not got the chrono on it yet but I was just thinking I should be a little higher up as far as powder charge. I have been reading on other people's 260 loads and I did load test all the way up to 43.5 which was what most people had as there accuracy load. I am just hoping I can hit another accuracy node before getting pressure signs. I dunno. I guess I can be happy with the 42.3 if it maintains that type of grouping.
