I'm just getting in to reloading so i can shrink my groups. Trouble is; I'm wanting to shoot 140gr 7mm Berger VLD's for my 7m-08 and I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere. I also want to load 168gr for my 7mm rem mag and i'm having trouble finding these as well.
For you more experienced hand loaders… Is this a frequent problem? It's really frustrating. I'd love to hear that there's light at the end of this tunnel.

If you're sold on these I'd suggest picking up 500 count boxes of them if and when available. Win win, same lot and 500 will keep ya happy for a while. Good luck.

lol - where have you been? ;)

Projectiles and components in general are like locating tiny little unicorns who are grazing on a field of 4-leaf clovers that are protected by sniper leprechauns who sit at the end of a rainbow.

Yeah, like i said, i'm new at this… But the shortage is pretty annoying!
I tried bullets.com and they had the 140 grain bergers, but no 168's. Hell, they're sold out of the sierra 168's too… Oh well.
Thanks for the replies.

Try GunBot 17hmr rimfire ammo under "Reloading". Also, check every morning at places like 3rd Generation, Powder Valley, Natchez, Midsouth, Bullets.com, Bruno's, etc. If you bookmark the pages, you can easily search all of them in just a few minutes. If you're diligent, you'll generally find what you need in a reasonable amount of time, which does not necessarily mean, "right this minute". Also, check when you see someone post, "XXX is available right now at So and So's". If you're too late as is often the case by the time you see/read the post, start checking even more closely at the other sites as several places will often get shipments about the same time. A little planning and perseverance will usually help keep you stocked up over the long haul.

I've got many bullets off of gunbroker.com all 7mm. I started out with 180grain, but then read on Krieger's websight that is highly recommended not to shoot over 170 grain because of barrel life. I sold the 180 and got 168. Powder seems harder to get, but there are several places in my area that has powder, but no Hodgdon.
