extended clip

I'm interested in a 10 round clip for my 22-250 savage edge. What would that run?

Thanks

Greetings! I immediately joined the forum after finding this thread. I do a lot of Project Appleseed events. I need a 10 round mag (but will buy 20 if the price is right) for my savage axis 30-06. I am in GA so legality isn't an issue. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello z71rat I was wondering what it would cost to build a 10 round and a 20 round 223 mag for the savage axis. Could you please email me at [email protected] as it is easier for me to respond that way

If you don't hear from zrat, since last we knew Colorado laws had adversely affected him then check out our website at Snyder Magazines | Mount Gilead, OH 43338. We do make 10 and 15 rounders for the Savage Axis .223 and are finishing up design on the .308. We do miss zrats postings...he is a cool guy :)

Thanks for the info, herbie180. However, we pay $35.00 for our Savage Mags. The E-bay prices are so high that we would have to raise our prices, and we are reluctant to do that. If you want to buy a Savage mag there (and be sure it is the same as we list on our website at Snyder Magazines | Mount Gilead, OH 43338 on the Magazines tab) and send it to us to convert, then we can do that for $55.00 each, plus shipping of $6.00 (we can get 2 mags in the box). If we provide the Savage mag, we have to wait until our suppliers can get them to us...or the converted mags would be running about $20.00 to $30.00 higher...and we wouldn't sell any :)

Thanks for following us, herbie180, and let us know what you decide :)

So do you think you will be able to make it under the magical $100 mark for a 10 round .308 mag? That would certainly be worth the money. Eagerly awaiting your demo video.

All I see for the 308 is a three rounds mag. Is this what is being used to develop the 10 round mag. I'd like to know before buying one to send to you all and have it converted.

Savage 30-06 mags

Hey how's it going man? Just wondering if you were still making those high cap mags for savage bolt actions? Please let me know, I'd love to get on your list for one or two in 30-06. Email me at [email protected] if that's easier. Thanks a lot.

6tyfive, not sure if you were responding to us or someone else. For us, we are not selling the .308 yet...so we do not have the stock and part number for the .308 magazines for people to send their own to us. We still offer only the 204/223. Hope to have the .308 completed and ready to go in a couple weeks...we are finishing up the details. Trying to find the best donor magazine for this project since Cetme G3s are getting hard to find.

We will post on our website when the .308 is ready to go, and will also post the stock and part number of the magazine we need for the conversion.

Good to see you here on the hide :)

Availability of Savage Axis 223 REM magazines

We've been having trouble finding the Savage Axis .223 REM original magazines. Today we see that Cheaper than Dirt has the Savage mags now for $41.00 plus shipping. For people who are looking for them to send for conversion, they are finally available - although we have seen them other places for $32.00 plus shipping when they are available. Good luck!

For those who are asking, we are still working on the .308...will not sell them until we feel they are good to go. Don't know prices and still trying to decide if the FAL or the Cetme G3 is the best donor mag for the .308. Testing both now. They will only be available in a 10-round due to the weight of the .308 cartridges.

We have had a death in the family, so will be out of touch until next week. PM if you have questions, or visit our website at Snyder Magazines | Mount Gilead, OH 43338 for information and prices. The 223s are available in 10 and 15 round.

Thanks,

hey magman2, If you go with the G3 mags for the .308 I will happily give you the website info that I gave DK to get them cheap. Sold straight out of Kentucky! Give me a holla man if you want the info

Sorry, we had a death in the family and got behind with our posts.
6tyfive, the 5 round magazines are available right now at grabagun.com for $32.00 each. We have ordered some more in for our stock.

Sorry for earlier confusion about stock number, info we provided was for the .223 and you wanted the .308. Been a little wild here, since both parents died within 10 days.

Yes, the .308 is only available in a 3 round. Stock # is 55232. We should have these ready very soon.

Thanks for following us on the hide!

Jaraldo, not sure who you are talking to, but if it is magman2, we do not have any plans to develop the 30.06 at this time. For now, finishing design on the .308s and building the .223s is all we can handle. When they have been out for a while, and getting good feedback, then we might reconsider the 30.06 since we've had a lot of requests for it. But for now, .223 and .308s will be all we offer. The 10-round 308 should be out in a few more weeks...we keep getting delayed by "life".

Hi I've been looking for a 10 round magazine
For over a year for my savage axis .243 I was wondering if you'd be interested in contacting me about prices and such. If so contact me at [email protected] Thanks!

I am curious to see where you end up, concerning the 243/308 series magazine. I am still hoping the stupid laws get changed to reflect some common sense. However, I don't see that changing for some time... if at all.

I only wish I could help. My hands are tied, and I have no plans of relocating any time soon, as I am in the middle of the design for our new hospital. I have very little time to myself, so not building magazines is a good thing for me. Sad to say, but it is the truth.

I am glad that you are getting things rolling on these. Once you get a good working design for the 243/308, I will begin referring everyone to you for magazines. I still get around 10 inquiries a day from the RatMag magazines.

Hang in there Brother, you are doing a great service for our 2nd Amendment!! Carry on...

Sounds like you have a full life without making mags...although you are sorely missed.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, zrat :) We are getting close on the .243/.308 using a FAL donor magazine. CetmeG3s are scarce and expensive now, but the FAL works well. It makes a nice smooth conversion, with a little tweaking. Getting ready to tack weld the first one together for testing so it should be available on our website very soon. Appreciate any business you can send our way. We will have more photos and videos up on the website within a week or two, you may find them interesting.

The .204/223 is available now, and we have built fixtures to make modifying and assembling much quicker than by hand. We get a lot of people placing orders, but so far no one has sent payment, and we will not ship without having that first. Wish we could send one to you and have you test for us, but I do not see Colorado changing anything anytime soon. We do come to Colorado about once a year, to Canon City, maybe we will just bring a couple along with us in the car.

Great to hear from you! Miss your posts here...we learned a lot just from reading them.

Hope the hospital project goes well for you, Z.

I just got a 308 mag body, spring/follower, and baseplate from savage for $26 shipped. You just have to put it together.

Was this a kit for an extended magazine or it it the original stock mag? Don't usually see the springs, followers, and baseplates listed separately from the mag. If for an extended mag, would definitely be interested for that price!

Unless there have been many additional changes to the Savage rifles, it should work with the Model 10's, just by removing the Axis magazine release tab. That is the only difference in the conversions that I was building. I don't imagine that yours are any different.

This is the parts you get directly from Savage... stock 3-4 round magazine. He is just referring to getting all the individual parts is cheaper than buying an assembled stock magazine. This is how I got the extra springs and followers for my builds. It saves funds.

WE have been a little reluctant to try the Savage 10s, zrat...we do not have any to test mags on, and we won't sell them without thoroughly testing them in our rifles. May look into getting one later on, but for now we have our hands very full just with the Savage Axis/Edge...lol.

As long as you are using the Axis magazine body, then it will work. The Axis attaches with the front release tab, and the standard Savage attaches via the front embossed tab on the magazine body itself. Since you are modifying the Axis floorplate, the band will act as the magwell filler for the standard Savages. I have built them with and without the magwell bands, and they will work either way. Much better with the band though.

Just tryin to pass along some helpful info to you... that is all. Carry on...

Thanks for the kind words Tom. Sorry I didn't see them sooner. As for supplies, Cheaper Than Dirt has almost always been my supplier for the steel H&K G3 magazines. The last time I saw them on their website, they were 3.99 each. Hopefully your FAL solution ends up being a good way to go, and hopefully not too expensive either. And yes, I will be watching for the updates!!

DK

Are you still making these? How can I get my hands on a few? I recently bought my Savage 30-06 springfield and have been searching high and low for a high capacity mag. Please help.

Zrat, you are being amazingly helpful! We have been learning this in a trial and error method, and have spent a LOT of money on things that didn't work. Good thing that Magman2 is a great machinist (35 yrs. experience) so he can make just about anything work. (and this is his wife replying this time :) He has built fixtures to simplfy every step of the process, so we can spit them out quickly once we get the method fine-tuned.

The .223s are working great, and seems the AR-15 is a better donor mag for this refit. Finishing up the .308s this week using the FAL. We did not know that we could buy these mags as separate pieces...that is very useful to know! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate us.

If you ever travel east, stop in Ohio and see our shop. We live in a historical home with a complete 3-bedroom guest suite on the top floor, so we can even put our visitors up. Really hope to meet you one day...we have appreciated you soooo much!

Thanks!! I am more than happy to help out in any way that I can. Just ask. I am so glad that someone is actually making this happen. I have tried to help out several individuals, and a few groups, and everyone that I know of has quit building them all together. Sad to say, I understand just how demanding these things can be on your time. Time you DO have, and more importantly, time you DON'T!!

My time right now definitely is not my own, but I will lend a hand when I can. The offer of the quest suite sounds really cool too!! :)

Keep him rockin the magazine building... he is doing a wonderful thing for the 2nd Amendment!! I appreciate your efforts!!

I am out of business... more than likely for good. MagMan2 is working on the 204/223 & 243/308's, but isn't going to take on the long action calibers. I can actually say, I don't blame them. They are a pain, they are costly, and time consuming to build. It is definitely a no win situation for the builder. I have built about 40 of them, and I never wish to build another. Best of luck to you.

We are having trouble finding the Savage magazines for a reasonable price again. And looking for individual parts at Savage Arms is not being very productive. Zrat, do you happen to have the part numbers for the pieces you were buying? We only need the body and the bottom plate on the Savage magazines, but to buy the whole mag at Cheaper Than Dirt is $48.00 with shipping...we just can't go there without charging more for our conversions...which we don't want to do. We usually buy them 5 or 10 at a time and we have used all but one of our stock already. Any suggestions on where we can find these individual parts? Would appreciate a PM or post if you can help. Thanks!

Magman2

The individual parts are as follows:

Magazine Body - P/N 105663 $15.00
Magazine Spring/Follower - P/N 106475 $5.00
Magazine Floorplate - P/N 107951 $3.00

These parts are the same for the Axis, as well as the new Trophy Hunters. And remember, the magazine release tab can be removed to work with the standard Savage Models 10, 12, 14, and 16. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

DK

Those numbers are for the 243/308/7-08 series of rifles. I don't have the numbers for the 204/223 version, but I should be able to scrap them up if you need those too. Just let me know.
