Yeah, the dates on the accessory box are Jan/Feb 2013 so I'm assuming the barreled action is from sometime late 2012. I'm not positive on it exactly but it's my best guess.
Hey guys thanks for all the info. Can anyone tell me who they called at Remington? I have not had any luck talking to anyone. I sent in my paperwork in November and then 3 weeks later I got acknowledgment that my order was received. Last weekend my credit card was charged, but the charge disappeared. I spoke to my bank and they said that it wasn't rejected. They said that Remington may be "testing" out my card. If anyone can give me any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok guys, I have a question. Have any of you that has one of the rebuild rifles thought or considered bedding it or spinning it apart to true things up or attempt to improve on what it already is? I know that's not the point of buying and having a unique "factory" rifle like these but the idea has crossed my mind. Or is the general consensus leave it as is?

Personaly, I would leave it as it is. M24s were not bedded for maintenance reasons. Stocks can be swapped if necessary since they are not serialized to a specific weapon. Bedding an aluminum block system is quite different than bedding a wooden or plastic stock. Skim bedding is just filling in the voids and imperfection in a rough/porous surface. Viscous materials like Devcon needs a rough surface to adhere properly. And it would add a second layer of potential stress.
Accuracy tests were sufficient without bedding. M24's are battle weapons, not benchrest shooters. That being said, you can try improving its accuracy, but I dont think you will get much improvement with aditionnal bedding.
I'm pretty sure your rebuild is a keeper, but if you ever decide to sell, a bedding job might hurt its value.

. You guys pretty much echoed what I was thinking but I couldn't help but ask the question. The sole purpose behind the kit is an accurate field rifle and yeah they didn't bed them so stocks could be changed but the reality is now in private hands it's staying in one piece. I was just pondering the thought if "disturbing / modifying" the originality by bedding it. As for bedding an HS stock in general, it's really a non issue for me as I've done a few in the past with great success. I won't get crazy as the reality is it's a production item mated to another production item, there's always inconsistencies with the machined surfaces between the two and I'll live with it.

I have a GI issue flash hider, why would anyone actually want one? It requires a sight correction if removed and it is kinda ulgy actually. I'm just curious.
As far as truing and bedding, mine shoots under 1/2 moa and according to the military they all shoot well under .5moa from the factory. I do not think bedding and truing will make it any more accurate. I'd rather spend that money on good components and powder and reload a decent round to shoot in the gun.

As has been stated several times before on this thread, the M24 build thread and TMAs thread. The only reason us guys are wanting a flash hider is to complete the kit. We all know the "issues" that come with it, it's not the point.
Other pieces that I've already picked up to fill in the blanks that won't get used but were part of the original kit is the EMA/ARD and LSU Polarizer. Do I "need" them? No but it's my kit and I want it as complete as I can make it. The only other pieces I'm lacking is a set of OK Weber / RPA BUIS and it wont be long until they are in-hand.
Any slight possibility that these will be offered to the civilian world?
There is one on gunbroker right now. My understanding is they will not be available to civilians directly from remington.

So I snagged up the set of OK/RPA BUIS that another member had for sale, I've already picked up all the other optic pieces parts that none of our kits come with, now the damn flash hider is what eludes me for the time being.
I keep telling myself to just be patient lol When I'm stateside in late April or so I'll lay out all the bits & bobs and take some pics. My wife has pictures of the kit as it is now but I'm waiting on them.

Here are a couple more pictures. The steel target is 18" x 24" so I'll let you do the math. Face target is an average group at 100 yards. Shot mostly M118LR but tested some Federal Gold Medal Match 175 gr and it was was excellent. Couldn't be happier.

Hey guys. You suppose there's any correlation between the rack numbers written on the stocks (I'd guess by Remington) to the order of which the rifle / kit was rebuilt and released? Not really important but it just had me wondering is all.

A few pictures finally. Pieces parts need organized in the cases, the rifle needs a bit of cleaning, I'll adjust the placement of the scope when I'm home again and then things should be in pretty good order. Everything's there with exception of the flash hider . The LSU Polarizer, ARD/EMA and RPA sights just need to be put in their proper places now.

Anyone of you with this M24 rebuild who knows how old your Hardigg cases are? How many years can the rubber seal around this case last before it should be replaced? I got a 11 year old M24 Hardigg case, but I`m a bit concerned the seal has to be refurbished to withstand the elements as if it was new. My case has been stored in household conditions at all time.
If not submitted to harsh condition, I dont think that seal would need replacing. These cases are water tight and vacuum sealed in the event of altitude change. If it has been stored in household conditions for the last 11 years, I guess it wont see any of those extreme conditions any time soon

Ah yeah, I wish Remington could have included the extra odds & ends too but no big deal. It's all out there and available if we have the patience and / or budget to pay the ransom for the parts at the time.
I got the email yesterday that my rifle will ship out this upcoming Monday. I hope it will come with all the accessories. I ordered it originally in category 1 in Oct 2012. When my order came up the first time I was deployed and the FFL for my local gun store had expired. No one notified me about it. This time my credit card of all things expired! They notified me immediately, let me give them the correct card info and my card was charged yesterday. I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas morning!

Are those screws for the rear sight base flathead little hard to see with the reflection,I picked up my RPA sights and surprisingly it came with the mounting base,although my rifle has a base attached,I also managed to come up with the LSU filter from a member on another board,so it pays to search around.
If referencing my picture above, sorry I can't say what screw head type they are as I'm not home to check them out. The rear mount in the picture came with the sights but I won't be using it. The original that came equipped from Remington on my rifle will stay on it.
Yes, patience and creative shopping around will get you what you're looking for eventually. I'm pleased with the ransom I've paid for the accessories to complete the kit. Now I just can't wait to get home and do a bit of shooting.
Rear sight base screws on the M24 are Allen head (Redfield and OK Weber). There is no small flathead tool included in the deployment kit. So flathead screws would make the installation/removal of the rear sight base impossible.

This one showed up in a brand new shiny case, looking pretty much NIB. There were a couple tiny scratches on the trigger guard, and the bipod and rings looked like they had some miles on them. The stock, action, barrel, and scope are all brand new looking. No nicks, scratches, or spraypaint anywhere. All the accessories, aperture sights, sling, cleaning kit, scope case etc, are still in plastic wrappers. It looks like no one ever shot it.
* Full disclosure, my active duty sister bought this one, and it belongs to her. I am lucky enough to get to "store" it for her in my safe. She's never ever shot any LR before at all, and with a little bit of instruction, she was banging <.5 MOA on steel at 500. Kind of impressed the RO during her new shooter 'qual'. I think she's happy with it.

What ammo to use I reload but only have 168gr SMK, trying to locate some 175gr to try,also have a can of M852 I purchased from the CMP years ago,would this stuff be good to use and then reload with the 175 to see how they perform against the others.
168's shoot just as well as 175's in mine.
When shooting this one, I found the preset dope on the elevation turret (1 moa per mushy click, seems a little weird to me) is calibrated for M118LR. Seems to fall a little short of FGMM, both 168 and 175s. Once out to 750yds, FGMM was hitting about 1 mil higher than the presets, so I'm guessing that M118 is a little slower than FGMM. The groups, however were astounding with both weights of SMK.
The elevation cam for the Ultra M3a is calibrated for M118 SB MV 2580-2600, M118LR and FGMM is roughly the same in velocity and elevation adjustments on the M24 with M3a in my M24.
The preset marks on the cam are not exact and will vary from weapon to weapon and ammo to include different lots.

Wondering if there is any room between the muzzle and the front sight base to thread the barrel for a suppressor or would this be considered a sacrilege to do?
The RO at my range was an actual member of the USAMU, and had a small part in the dev process for the M24. He reports, (and I totally agree) that the scope is the biggest letdown in the whole package. Very coarse, very mushy, inaudible, intactile adjustments. Elev turret calibrated for distance only, using M118LR only, so no definitive adjustments available, since the clicks are a mystery. Even if you figure out the turrets, the adjustments are repeatable (yay), but so coarse (booo), you may not even find a real zero. Who here would accept a scope with only one full MOA clicks as an elevation adjustment, or 1/2 MOA click as windage? You would be laughed off the hide for using this scope, if it wasn't authentic mil issue. Once I got out to longer ranges, I found everything to be a holdover/under, or hold for wind, since the adjustments were so coarse. Fortunately, the collector value will not be affected by fitting a proper scope, so I'm gonna clamp a spare SWFA SS 20X on top, just to see what the gun can really do.
