Re: HK P30 shooting under water test

Now I know what to carry when I'm in Great White territory. I better load 158gr bullets for those.

Re: HK P30 shooting under water test

The thing with shooting under water is to make damn sure there is no air trapped in the gun or it will explode and crack the gun from the pressure. I am glad to say that yes I have watched it being done but never tried or even wanted to try it for myself.

"Myth Busters" did a series on underwater discharges and shooting into water.

Question of the day.
With one atmosphere (14.6960 psi.) being = to 33.8985 feet of water. How deep would you have to dive until the bullet would not exit the barrel due to too much external pressure ??

Re: HK P30 shooting under water test

Most larger bore pistols will shoot just fine underwater, just don't be underwater as well trying to shoot them without hearing protection or you won't have much hearing for a bit.

I would guess that the pistol would still fire under water long after you couldn't get deeper without special equipment.

Pistols underwater are kind of useless for the most part, due to the bullet coming to a stop pretty quickly.

Re: HK P30 shooting under water test

I always shoot my guns in the water as I have no where else to shoot them. I live in a shell under the sea

I had watch this video before its being private in you tube. Are you the owner?

~15.3 miles underwater for a 9mm...tough to find that here on old planet earth. And not sure the barrel would like that.
