Shoulder recoil pad recommendation?

Need a shoulder-worn recoil pad that works for prone position using a traditional wood-stocked M1A (with metal buttplate). A recoil-reducing buttpad is not a preferred option. Any recommendations? It's for my daughter. She's 6' 2", 190 lb..

I was about to say man up, but since it's for your baby girl and she's 6'2(mine is 5'11) there is no reason she can't handle the recoil, yes it's gonna be uncomfortable at first but with a proper hold and a thick shirt/shirts on she'll be GTG, the problem with the pussy pads is length of pull almost always puts the shooters head too far back which effects NPA, and a forces shooters to adjust into bad body positions to compensate

Look into PAST recoil pads. They come in a few sizes and thicknesses and are reasonably priced. They can be purchased from many different vendors online and probably available at your local big box sporting goods stores too. Do a quick google search to see what I mean.

Joking, actually; it is for me. I've had the end of my clavicle cut off and my pectoral muscle reattached in a different place. I get a bruise that turns purple and green when I shoot. I hear ya on the LOP problem with the pussy pad though. Lash: thanks for the PAST recommendation.

No worries, man. A friend I shoot with spent many years riding motocross and broke many bones, including his clavicle. He uses a PAST pad and could give a crap what others think. It makes rifle shooting fun for him instead of it being a painful experience. A real man does what it takes to get the job done and doesn't worry about misguided machismo.

FWIW, it is well documented that sensitivity to recoil varies widely. That is why any intelligent discussion of felt recoil uses actual scientific numbers as a relative comparison instead of a definitive set of lines drawn in the sand. As an example, I find that .454 Casull is about my personal limit in a handgun. Not as much due to the actual recoil as much as I find the muzzle blast to be offensive and it makes me flinchy. Others don't find that to be the case, but on the other hand, I bought my first .357 from a guy who put 12 rounds through a Dan Wesson and said that it was "too much gun". I bought it for a song and it's still one of my favorites today.
