Fuck rocks, paper, scissors. It's Philly. Whaddaya want?

A fight over a fare between two rival taxi drivers ended with one driver shooting the other three times Saturday afternoon outside the Frankford Transportation Center, police said.

Around 1:15 p.m. a 43-year-old cabbie with the Philadelphia Taxicab Service got into an argument with a 52-year-old taxi driver from an unidentified company over which of them would take the next fare, police said.

The 52-year-old won out and took the next customer but before he drove away he pointed a large knife at the other cabbie, according to police.

After dropping off his fare, the 52-year-old returned to the transportation center on the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue about a half hour later. With a plastic bag in one hand, he walked up to the 43-year-old cabbie he'd argued with and punched him in the face without saying a word, police said.

The victim told police that he knew the other driver had a knife, so he pulled out his gun and shot him three times, according to authorities. The cabbie was hit twice in the torso and suffered a graze wound to his head, according to police. He was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Campus. His condition was not released by police.

Authorities said the taxi driver with the gun had a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon.

^ There's a little more in the link Veer provided. It sounds like the shooter is being viewed as the victim. Just based on the limited info in the story, that sounds about right to me.

Anyone else wondering what the plastic bag was for? Nut collection?

Yes. From the article:

In a news release, police did not say which of the drivers was charged in the incident, though the cabbie with the gun was referred to as the "victim" and the driver with the knife was referred to as the "offender."

What I found amusing was that the scribe, Farr, is one of the flakier of the tender snowflakes pushing ink and pixels in the Philly media. That police report must have cost her a few good nights of sleep.

Oh, and Maggot, catchy custom user title. I'm sure that its owner will let you use it for a little while before He smites you.

Given no limits, you might have written "Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent Master of All Space, Time, and Reality," so I'll take what you settled for as a sign of possible humility.

Absolutely. Thanks for seeing that.

Nah. I figure you just didn't have enough space for the full title. But I'll give you a point for throwing a C*******n homily in my face. Cute, real cute.

I'd suggest you move over here to the Pittsburgh area but it's getting a bit on the wild side. Of course, compared to Philly in the context of violence, we're still living in the 20th century.

He should have stuck the carpet bagger like a stunned hog and the first shot should of been two unfortunate bastards that just happened to line up. Fletcher should have met up with a few nails, a lighter stump and a match. Second chances would be handing him a razor. That would have made a damn good movie great.
