Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

7RM, LRM, 28Nos would get it done but 1 mile seems to be around their max +/- looking at velocity from 2900-3100fps. 300WM, 300 & 338NM. 338LM would be better getting to 2000-2200yd I think. A long barrel would be your friend

I've done a couple 26 Nosler barrels for customers and just finishing the 3rd 300 Norma Mag barrel for some others. So far all involved are happy with the choices and I would think the 7mm Nosler would probably be a good one too. I know the 26 and the 300 Norma both feed well from unmodified mags so that may be something to think about. I would think the 28 Nos should feed just fine too.
Personally I can't see any advantage to most of these specialty types. The component costs are going to be right up with the 338 Lapua so you're not saving any cash. Recoil might be down a little but with the weight of the DT where it is none of them have very bad recoil. (except the HTI in 50). On the other hand its what the whole thing is about...choose what makes you happy. I don't think you will go wrong with any of the 3 above....

First DTA barrel from Patriot Valley Arms. 308Win, Rock Creek fast twist, PVA Mad Scientist Brake

Fit and Finish are awesome!!!! My brother can't wait to wear it out!!!!

Who makes a bore guide for the .308 SRS A1? And will I need to remove the barrel each time I clean it or will be able to leave it in? I am getting my first SRS this next week. It will be in 338 and I will get the .308 conversrion later.

I saw where Possum Hollow makes one for the SRS and was just wondering if its any good?

This pic shot a couple weeks ago down in Southern Utah has me wishing for warmer weather after all the snow that dumped here last couple days.

I love the RRS set up and the Proof Carbon barrel has been shooting nicely as well.

This was from two weekends ago when we had above much above normal February temperatures for South Dakota. I actually had bees buzzing me while shooting this in this video. I realize after watching this footage that I wasn't completely straight in line with the rifle . I am trying to shoot up all of my 168's and then order in some 175's since no one stocks them locally here.

Received my HTI from Primal Rights yesterday.

34" TS Customs barrel chambered in 375CT. Topped with a S&B 3-27x. This rifle is an absolute beast! I put a 260 case in one of the flutes for a frame of reference for the barrel profile. Looking forward to getting this out the range very soon...

Lookin good there! Can't wait to see the range reports. If it's like the rest we've built like that, it'll be putting big holes right where you want them in short order. :)

Initial Range Report here.

I recently picked up a used A1 with both 308 and 6.5 complete conversions and this is my first DTA. In the near future the plan is to have a 300 Norma or Win Mag barrel spun up. I need a little schooling on the A1 bolts, since I don't need two 308/6.5/260 bolts is it possible to purchase the correct bolt face for the caliber I go for and install and use it use in one of my existing bolts?

Thats definitely awesome
I saw on his Facebook page PVA is making wrenches so you can order a barrel and change the barrel extension yourself to save 300 bucks.

You can indeed swap the bolt faces... however I strongly recommend getting a new bolt for each bolt face.

Yes, you can do that

Thanks Orkan & Sonic Crack, I thought I could but wanted to make sure. One bolt has never been used and the other has 20 rounds on it. Anyway as soon as soon as the Fed refund arrives I'll be touching base with one of you for a barrel. Again thanks for taking time to answer my question.

Not exactly the same but I ran a 20 MoA mount on a 20 MOA rail and could get a 100 yd zero with that scope.

I have the DTA 40 MOA mount with a Nightforce 5-22 on it and have no trouble at all getting 100 yard zero.

We have mounted this combination many times and no, you'll have no problem getting a 100yd zero.

Agree, I have the SPUHR 4802 which has 44.4 of MOA and had no problem with a 100 yard zero on my Gen II.

Well well well... Mike Bush... just what about my last three posts here in the DTA thread do you dislike?

Care to elaborate? ... or do you just feel the need to follow me around like a puppy, shitting on my floor?

I just posted a barrel, bolt, bolt stop, and magazine for a .338. It also has a Benchmark muzzle brake. I am wanting the .308 conversion. Take a look. If you know of anyone who might be interested in it please tell them. Also if anyone would like to trade I would consider that too.

Want to be able to suppress my 6.5 and 308 barrels and looking into purchasing the Delta P Design thread adapter to use with my Ultra 7. Anyone have anything good or bad to offer on the Delta P adapter?
Thanks

We've seen those thread steppers work, and we've also seen them cause problems such as baffle strikes and suppressors coming loose. I avoid them at all costs. If you have an ultra-7, you should be able to get a 3/4x24 cb for it. (unless you're direct attach)

I think the barrel is a Primal Rights.

Thanks Orkan, the Ultra-7 is direct thread. Guess I could have the barrels re threaded but then you have the same issue not knowing if the barrel/suppressor are concentric. Suppressor prices have drop considerably from a year ago so maybe its time to buy again and let the wait start.

If you have the barrels re threaded by a reputable smith there shouldnt be a problem. The problem is with thread adapters. Who knows how they get threaded and your only stacking tolerances. Where have you seen suppresor costs drop "considerably"?

As mentioned, re-cutting new threads would be the very best way. Even better if we have the can in hand when we do it. If you'd like to send your barrel and suppressor, we should be able to get it turned around reasonably quick.

Has anyone gotten the 6 Dasher working in an SRS? I'm idly toying with the idea, but wondering if I can follow in the tracks of others…

Orkan & Sonic Crack thanks for the info.
Have you ever opened your mouth and stuck your foot in it, I did, Sonic Crack I miss spoke about the cost of suppressors going down. I've been shopping for a TBAC 22 Takedown and noticed a reduction in cost from what I was seeing last year by about 15%. Unfortunately I made the incorrect assumption that prices were going down across the board but after researching last night on 6.5 & 30 cal pricing realized there hasn't been any significant change in pricing for them.
I'll take both of your recommendations and get the 308 re-threaded soon.

No worries! Was wondering if I was missing something

I just purchased a full size SRS handguard to replace my Covert shorter hand guard. Has anyone replaced theirs? Or removed theirs? If so, was if difficult? An advise? Thanks.

I too would like to know I was thinking about going the other way and put on the short one.

Aluminum pic rail sections are back in stock folks. Get them while they last. :)

Guys who own the 223 conversion, what barrel length and twist rate did you go with? I'll be shooting anything from a 70 grain RDF to a 80 grain AMAX or SMK. 1 in 7 and 26"?

The real question comes down to how far are you going to push .223? If you don't need to use it out to 600+, you might as well opt to go shorter. Then again with our bullpup rifles, we can get away with a full 26" without a hassle! lol

Now that the 10 round mags have been out a while would people say they've got these things figured out? Tuned up, polished up, broken in? Anyone run have a few matches with them now?

Thats definitely awesome

I searched his website and Facebook (somewhat briefly) and couldn't find any info on the extension keys/wrenches. I messaged him since it is Sunday but do you have any links or further information?

Well I get to order my .308 kit this week. Cant wait to shoot this thing.
