Adjustable Gas Block simple question

I am looking into an adjustable gas block for my gun and was wondering, if I have a mid length gas system, will I be able to adjust the block without taking off the handguard? I have a JP mkiii signature hand guard 12 inch. Also, what would you guys recommend for a .875 diameter adjustable gas block?

Thanks

Mike

I dont have one of those handguards, or seen one in person. Based on pictures, it will work based on the design on the gas block. A front access adjustable screw, like a SLR or Superlative will work and in my opinion would be the best option. Not much out there for the .875 gas block selection. If you find one that has adjustable screw on the side of the block, that would be questionable with that handguard. The deals are on this weekend to buy these 2 types of blocks at a decent price.

The side adjustable type like Seekins are much easier to access and adjust IMO unless your gas block is right near the end of the handguard.

It's no big deal to drill/cut/grind/machine a clearance hole for the adjustment if needed.

I'm guessing since I have a mid length gas system on the my set up, I think it might be undergassed. I bought a superlative adjustable gas block. I was thinking it might be a weak buffer spring. But we will see in the following weeks

An adjustable gas block will not give you more gas than you are already getting. Although it's unlikely that you're under gassed just because it's a mid length system.

Is your rifle malfunctioning as it is now? If so, what's it doing? What are you trying to fix with an AGB? Can you give more details about your setup?

Scott

Here'a what happens almost every time the rifle tries to feed another round. I have also purchased a Sprinco Orange heavy buffer spring because of my suspicion of my setup being undergassed. My setup: Dpms .308 Sportical, 18 inch mid length .875 ballistic advantage Hanson barrel, stock BCG, .875 low profile gas block that came with the barrel, Stock buffer carbine spring and buffer.

A heavy buffer spring is the opposite of what you want if it's under gassed. Which, I can almost guarantee you is not the case now that you say it's an AR10 in 308 with a mid length system. Its much more likely that it's severely over gassed. An adjustable gas block will help with that situation, unlike an under gassed situation.

Ok haha half of the forum is telling me it's undergassed and the other half is saying over gassed. So I bought both, will see which works and which doesn't. I'll update this post incase others have a similar problem.

Thanks

Mike
