Has anyone tried the less popular 260 rem gas gun powders?

I was hoping to use RL16/RL17 or H4350, but since none are obtainable unless you want to pay $28 a lb plus haz and freight, im trying to find something not only less common, but something I can use in 300 win as well. The RL17 was my primary choice, but its going to cost me near $260 per 8 lbs to buy it unless I can find the 5 lbers in stock locally, or in bulk online. Has anyone tried H1000 in a gas gun with good luck? Looking at the reloading data, its about 50-100 FPS slower than the RL17 in both, but shows as an acceptable powder with still good velocity, I just cant find any results on here or "real world" in a semi auto.

I would try IMR 4451

Also sold out everywhere... I ran through the "powders to use" and came up dry. I did snag 16 lbs of RL17 from Brownells while they had a coupon code and free freight... wasn't cheap but I was running out of options and didn't want to get into a crap powder, only to have to build new loads again later. I was just hoping there was something more common that worked well, but it seems like the 6.5/260 craze is draining the market.

NO I guess everyone that can't find h4350 has moved to 4451 and not that's sold out as well.

I'm getting tired doing spirit dances for H4350 and not being able to find it.

I have used Ramshot Hunter and H4831SC in both my bolt and gas gun .260s with good results. SDs in the single digits to low teens depending on OAL and charge.

I have also heard good things about 4831sc. I haven't used it personally but know a couple guys that shoot 140s with it quite well in 260.

I tried Superformance and it shot OK. Not as fast as H4350 for me and RE17 was most accurate powder in my bolt rifle 260 with 139/140gr bullets. Haven't done any load testing in my GAP10 260, yet.

4831SC shoots better than any other powder in my rifle. We are talking same hole well. Problem is it's over 100fps slower than H4350. I'm will to sacrifice a little bit of accuracy for the 100 FPS. My gun is a 20 inch so I'm slow as it is.

I tried super performance in a 20" bolt with 143/147 eld worked pretty well for that a bit faster than the imr 4451 never could get the h4350 to compare to as it was always sold out. It was readily available here a few months ago the last time I was buying some powder might be an option. Little larger group but still very good and faster (probably due to case capacity with finer powder I didn't go too far as I was nearing compressed in 4451 much sooner)

i can't speak for a gas gun... but i have tried 45 grains atop a hornady 140 BTHP with RL22 and got 2600fps out of a 20" bolt gun.

VVn540 has also given me excellent groups.

good luck on your search
