    2%.

So now I can buy an extra half tank of gas each month.

I wonder how much more congress voted themselves?

To my knowledge, there is no special congress social security benefit or retirement or health care. They have the same as regular gov employees and in the case of social security, the same as regular Americans.

REALLY?^^^^^^^^^^^^ Expand your knowledge, then report back.

What he said, and on steroids.

Here's how much members of Congress pay for their health insurance

Jul 25, 2017 - As members of Congress debate whether to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, it seems fair to ask: How much do they pay for health care? ... Instead, they choose a gold-level Obamacare policy and receive federal subsidies that cover 72 percent of the cost of the premiums.

Their package of benifits makes anything you have look like horse piss.

You investopedia article states congress has FERS which is what all federal employees have. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=7913836&page=1 shows they have the FEHB that federal employee have. I am not defending these people as they do very little to serve the country and do most to serve themselves but after going through several retirement classes/seminars this has been asked repeatedly and the answers are the same. Also, defined benefit plans that they receive are increased by time on the job. The credit for each year of service is around 1.1 % for the first 30 years of service.

Why should social(ist) security be raised beyond the rate of inflation?

    http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/

    Would you go for:

Because we old geezers, especially me, are just a wonderful contribution to society and we can use the extra $$$ to go buy more ammo, liquor, and______ (fill in the bland).

If not, the next time Im down your way, thats Va Beach aint it, we'll drink up some bourbon. im to old for that other shit we were laughin about...unless there's no way out.

Damn I think Ill go have another snort.

Thought that would give you a little something to mull over. Military pay raise for 2018 is 2.1% too, all of federal gov't is near the same, pretty much right around inflation. Better than losing ground, fed gov't has been living too high on the hog lately so I believe things need to be quelled for a spell.

Have a snort for me, I've been staying good lately in preparation for an Italy trip with my lady next week. Going to enjoy good wine again for a while, and drop a good bottle of Jefferson Reserve to an old Carabinieri friend so he can see what American bourbon is all about.

    Have a great safe trip.

Probably will apply next year (62). Looking at their website I noticed a message stating taxes collected by 2025 (as I recall) will cover about 79 percent of the expected payout. Are these guys great at managing money, or what?

If you want heartburn, consider the true rate of inflation. Then consider SS is now termed an entitlement, as in you didn't earn or pay for it you are being granted it. Then consider how flush the SS coffers were until they were raided to inflate the General fund. The term Ponzi fair begs to roll off ones tongue.

Thats how i see it Ed. I did the math and It would take me until 79.e for it to average out by waiting for full bene's. I figure the odds of me making it thaat long are slim, if there is even money by then.
