2017 was, well, enlightening. I started last year as a lurker without a precision rifle. After slowly gleaning information, learning from members on this site, and developing a wish list of sorts, I have finally finished a rifle that I am proud to own. Furthermore, with the inspiration and advice of my fellow members, I have come a long way in understanding ballistics, practical applications of rifles, and developed an inborn fondness for everything we do here.

Now for the real "meat" of this post.

After buying, selling, and trading quite a few rifles I can say I am finally satisfied (for now) with a build.

Remington 700 aac-sd in .308
Mcmillan a5 adjustable
surgeon bottom metal
seekins 20 moa rail
badger efr
timney calvin elite
Vortex hslr 4x16x44 (weakest part of the build)
atn ps28
krg bolt lift

This rifle will be my hunting rifle, steel beater, and with some more learning hopefully my competition rifle. Small adjustments will come, things will be changed. But in the end, I will keep this one till I die. I think I'll name her Pig. Very fitting.

Well brother, I'll be hunting feral hogs and coyotes exclusively. Once my suppressor clears jail, I'll really hit the field hard. I was debating on having much nicer glass or some nv, once I realized I hunt and shoot 90% more at night than the day from january to September, nv won out. In the summer it should really help stack the pork, stays in the high 90s and lower 100s during days most of my summers here in Texas so may-September is almost always night only.

whats the weight w/o the NV? good looking gun though!

Haven't scaled it yet brother, will later. Honestly, while I'm not let down by the nv, I can probably do just as well with better glass and a green light. So that may come off and get turned into a razor gen 2.

Nice rig. I'm doing the same ..... researching for my first bolt build.

Very nice setup. How are you liking that clip on NV? What part of Texas are you hunting at? Fellow Texas boy as well.

I swear green lights were spooking animals for me but that’s a whole different topic of discussion. I switched to thermal pretty quickly for that reason

I dig it well enough, kind of in a weird limbo right now. I can see just as well with a hunting light in red or green out to practical ranges. Even more so up close. Its awesome to see coyote eyes bouncing across a field 250 yards away, then panicking to get the focus right.

Right now I'm in the San marcos area finishing up my senior year at tx state. Soon comes the big boy job and big boy budget lol. Where part do you hail from?

They do, especially if you flash them with it. Even though they are color blind they can tell a difference in the brightness around them. I've found that if you either a. Leave your light on the whole time, or b. Turn it on faging up and work your way down, you wont spook them from that. Sound and smell will still get you though, so stay frosty!
