Dont update Kestrel 5700 to firmware 1.17!!!!

As the titel states don't update to firmware 1.17 it will casue the unit too no longer store gun data, it will act like it is going to save but if you go to any other screens all gun data is lost and any data you load from AB profile loader aslo does not save in unit after firmware update 1.17.

Update I now have usergun1 and something call defalt gun but I can't save changes to defalt gun1, I can only use user gun1 and thats it no other profiles.

Damn it. Wish I had seen this. Already updated and have the same and some other issues. I have sent them a message.

I was just able to upload my guns with my iPad. This seems to have correct my other issues. iOS 11.2.2
 
I have not received any email instances of any issues like this. If you can email in more information and what is going on, I will take a look at it.

Yea I posted here, then Max called Kestrel and reported the problem to them, then Nick with Kestrel had Max PM me to call Nick at Kestrel when I spoke with Nick he stated that they are keeping the engineers after work tonight to find the problem and get this fixed asap. Most places when you report a problem they just pass the buck and you wait forever to get any word back they are atleast trying to fix it they day it was reported.

I must've got lucky with my update. Seems to be working fine put 3 guns back

I think they have been pretty busy with SHOT. Also this seems to be very limited, with most people not experiencing these issues. Mine was corrected by using my older Ipad (current iOS) to upload the guns. The only issue I appear to be having now, is the velocity temperature function switching off when I change guns. We had that issue on an earlier FW update and it was corrected with the next update.
 
Think I will wait until they announce the fix!
 
Hey guys, I tried to update my 5700 yesterday. For some reason when I connected my kestrel to the kestrel link app it does not tell me there is a update. I started checking the web for reasons and I came across this discussion. Now I’m glad from what has been said I didn’t update my kestrel yet, but I’m wondering if kestrel stopped all updates until this is fixed or maybe something is wrong on my end. Any advise would be appreciated
 
I emailed Kestrel on Friday and they told me that they pulled the update because of the issues some people were having. They said the next release will be 1.18. They didn't give a timeline, they just said they would release it as soon as it was ready.
 
I thought this was already understood days ago. They pulled it down when these issues were reported. Kudos to them for the quick action to limit the amount of people having potential issues. This, despite the fact that amount of people affected seems very limited among those who did already update.

I seem to have gotten a similar bug when I upgraded my Sportsman to Elite. It's showing that I have firmware 1.15, but I'm experiencing, what appears to be, the same problem you guys are. I'm able to create a new gun profile, but it will default to 0.475 G7 BC every time. Try to change it and save... reverts back to 0.475.

Very frustrating and annoying.

I did notice however, that I could build the gun on the app, upload it to the Kestrel, delete it out of the app... THEN, go into the Kestrel, manually adjust the BC, then download the adjusted profile to the app, and it would retain the edited BC. That's a pretty big pain in the ass though.

Heard back from Andrew at Kestrel- apparently there’s an issue with the app and the latest version of iOS. He said it should be fixed in the next couple days. This is the cause they are attributing my issue to. However, he said what I'm experiancing mirrors what others are having troubles with concerning the 1.17 FW update. I didn't inquire on if there's two issues going on here, or if it wasn't actually the 1.17 FW that was the issue. I believe there may have been an iOS update that was right around the same time that firmware was released. So perhaps the FW wasn't the fault? Or perhaps two issues have managed to spring up at the same time.

Saw this thread too late - bought a new 5700 Elite Ballistics from NK last Thurs and found the same problem. Basically profiles don't transfer seamlessly and in a way you can use them on the 5700. I wonder if the problem is related to the fact that these new units are labeled Elite Ballistics, not Applied Ballistics as in the past. The fact that Doc didn't know about the issue suggests AB may be out of the loop. At any rate, the latest (this AM) from NK is that 1.18 should be out within a week, maybe as early as the end of this week.

I’m having the same issue. I switched calibers and it is retaining my old BC. No matter what I’ve tried neither the app or meter will retain my BC. Keeps switching back to the old one. Very frustrating. This is on a 5700 Elite.

Just a quick correction to the article some read in Guns America
The Kestrel 5700 Models will NOT have a new 'Easy button' as referenced but rather an 'Easy Mode'. No new buttons. All of the 5700 Elite series will get this update via the firmware update available through the app with LiNK.

I've been told the 1.18 version should launch soon, (hopeful for this week).
 
Just got an update for the app to correct the BC issue. Works fine now, no issues.
Just downloaded the update, and it seems to have fixed my problems as well.

Doc, FYI - I bought my Kestrel Elite Ballistics last week (1/25) and the firmware version was 1.17 - had immediate problems transferring profiles. As of yesterday, NK had no quick fix other than waiting for 1.18. Build number on my app was 118 - is that the latest?

FW Version 1.18 is going to be the newest. Working on getting it out as fast as we can. I am hoping for users to be upgrading to it early next week. App version 121 of the app came out Jan 22nd I believe.

My app build is 121

App version 121 of the app came out Jan 22nd I believe.

Moot point but it was later than that - I first downloaded the app on the 26th and got Build 118. I haven't tried the newer build because I'm pretty sure the main problem is with the FW (Kestrel independently won't delete all profiles, even when adding Factory Restore).

I’m also on build 121 now- the build that fixed my issue.

I’d still suggest updating the app. Even if it doesn’t solve the problem, there was clearly some kind of glitch in the older app- who knows what could activate it, then you’re frustrated with two problems.
