Bad Rifles

I figured that some of the long time members would be able to pick up on the hint and know who I was talking about. I can tell you with 100% accuracy that everything that the posts back in 2014 said about the sorry work and terrible customer service and the video is 100% true and correct. Because I've seen the horrible excuse for a custom build with my on eyes and wallet. And just like the member said of his experience with this con man 2014, when I spoke to him about the numerous problems he tried his S.O.P. in berating me, trying to insinuate that I was a moron and complete idiot. And he tries to turn the thing around to make out like he's the one that was cheated & screwed over.

I know exactly who you are referring to!

Well for all of you that have had dealings with Tactical Rifles and David Rooney, you will be happy to know that I have sued both and actually was able to pierce the corporate veil and got a Judgment yesterday against David Rooney personally! Please PM me for more information!

Well, I guess Don447 has seen this post:). I hope you guys keep us informed on how bad Rooney is getting it!

in ar's that are more factory than not i have found the hornady match stuff works pretty well. will hover 3/4-1" in most ar's. not the best brass for reloading but the semi autos beat the brass up pretty good anyway, i never found it worth the extra money on really good brass for gas guns.

as far as tac rifles, i think i have one of the only good ones. but i got on board when they first started out...guess i finally got lucky.
was a AICS so no bedding job. maybe there were able to chamber a barrel back then and screw it down. it really isnt that hard, it you cant get a 308 to shoot federal match well you really have to be a dumpster fire of a company. lol

Anyone wanting to see the video go to youtube look up SHLowlight and the video was 4 years ago, so its down the list quite a ways, it is worth the effort. Enjoy!

Thanks @Bender, I laugh every time I watch that. A few years back Lowlight came to Alaska and taught a precision rifle class. Was lucky enough to get in the class. And the after action debrief after class, Frank explaining the video as its playing. Was some good times.

Frank is a funny guy. I’ll take a class from him someday

If you ever get the opportunity! To date I have taken the Precision Rifle Course 1 and 2. Alaska is lucky to have Frank's Marine Corps brother, Mark Xxxxx. They were instructors together in the Corps. The training they give is top shelf. Funny thing just a few hours ago I got a invite for an Alumni shoot with Frank and Mark at the end of Sept. I hope that I can make it.

I just got a report back from a real rifle builder on the extent of the problems and out and out theft and fraud by Tactical Rifles on the so-called precision rifle they built me. Charged $400 labor to blueprint rem 700 action, it was never blueprinted. It stock. Barrel crooked in the stock barrel channel, must be rebedded. Lead in to barrel so screwed up that barrel must be cut and set back. Bolt was improperly fitted. Threads on barrel bad. Cannot determine if I really have the Krieger barrel that I paid for. Likely I do not. This is a case of theft and fraud. And I believe I need to do something about it.

How does Rooney have knee-caps let alone a business license still

Don, thanks for your service, and I'm sorry to hear about all of this. Thanks for posting about it so the rest of us know who not to use. What an awful situation - I'm a cheap SOB and I can't imagine someone cheating me out of $4k of my hard-earned money. That sucks no matter which way you look at it.

To any members out there that have had the great misfortune of being cheated, screwed over, essentially stolen from by having Mr. Rooney and Tactical Rifles build you a rifle I have a tip for you. If you've read my previous posts you know that I was stupid and allowed myself to be taken in by Tactical Rifles and spent over $4,300 on a "precision" rifle that was built poorly and incorrectly as you can possibly build one. It wasn't simply that the work was not good. No, the work was so bad that I had to have the entire rifle rebuilt. I very nearly had to throw away a $400 Krieger barrel without a round fired. But luckily I found a true, genuine custom rifle builder. He is a brother combat veteran who took it very personal that Rooney knowingly and intentionally cheated a disabled combat veteran. Tactical Rifles are so sorry they even gave me "special discount" because I have a Silver Star and was permanently disabled, so he ONLY charged me $4300 for the useless inoperable junk rifle. Well, I was so very fortunate to find a REAL precision rifle builder in my own backyard. If any of you guys got screwed by Tactical Rifles like I did and need the gun made right or you want a new build then contact:
Alamo Precision Rifles in Hurst, Texas and speak to Robert. He is absolutely incredible at what he does, an artist instead of an incompetent fraud like Tactical Rifles. I cannot say enough about the quality of his work, his honesty and his integrity. One of the finest men I've known let alone finest gunsmith. Had he built the rifle that the fraud from Florida built me it would have been $970 less, it would have actually had the parts that I paid for but were not used and; it would have been correctly done the first time.

Check them out, Alamo Precision Rifles - Hurst, Texas. www.aprifles.com ask for Robert.
He is the most honest guy you'll ever meet. The real deal.

Its really even worse than that. I was already an 80% disabled vet, fighting the government to be rated at 100%. But I am a proud man so I worked instead just drawing the disability pension. But apparently 2 gunshot wounds and some frag wounds weren't enough. B/C on 31 Jan 2014, my vehicle was hit in center of driver's side door by fully loaded freight train going 40 MPH. My truck was essentially cut in half and I was crushed b/w front of train and console b/w seats. Had to be cut out and flown to trauma hospital hour away. I broke every single rib in multiple places, broke my back in 4 places, fractured my pelvis in 7-8 places, lost the spleen, punctured my lung, lacerated my pericardium, almost lost left arm, and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Last rites 2X I think. So spent another almost year in hospitals, operating rooms and nursing home. Have to use a cane and sometimes a walker to get around. This incident put me at 100% disability but with several hundred thousand of dollars in medical bills and no longer able to work at all. But I refused to give up shooting. I have to live on a way too small military disability pension. So I don't have hardly any money. I wanted to have something, my 1st custom built rifle, to reward myself for living through the combat wounds from Somalia and then the horrible train accident thst finished off my ability to work or to just have 1 single day without just awful pain. Tactical Rifles knew my whole story and knew that it took me almost 2 years to come up with $4300 to build thus rifle. But they cheated and stole from anyway. They even claimed they were discounting $1000 off the rifle cost b/c I was a severely disabled vet with a Silver Star, Purple Heart, etc on top of this nearly fatal accident. Yet they cheated me, defrauded me - basically stole from me. That $4300 was almost all I had. And I had lost so much, way beyond a monetary number, I wanted something special to remind me of what I went through in combat and in the wreck. This rifle was to be a very special prized symbol to remind me to stay strong and to remind or reward myself for making it through. I did n have thast kind of money to buy something like that. That money was needed to pay for more surgeries and living expenses. And it was just ripped right out of my hands with nothing to show for it except this piece of crap that I couldn't even shoot let alone enjoy it for what it was supposed to symbolize

How in the hell does Tactical Rifles stay in business? I went back and watched the video that sparked the lawsuit and the fit and finish of the gun looks like my work with a dremmel and spray paint ( my work is rough). I have been scammed before but never for that much money for such a piece of junk. I am so sorry for the op.

How does Tactical Rifles stay in business? Well, one way is changing the name of the company every time the heat gets too hot from not paying vendors, building terrible quality rifles and therefore getting lawsuits filed against them, and being reported 4X to the BBC in Florida. To the best of my knowledge, Tactical Rifles and Rooney have had two other names in addition to T.R. It has also been know as American Precision Rifle Company, and The M40 Rifle Company. That name and address change philosophy scam is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Aside from one of our fellow Hide members suing and WINNING a suit against Tactical Rooney, about the only way I can see to stop this fraud / crook is that we who have been screwed & cheated by Tactical Rifles must continue getting the word out to all potential victims (you're not a customer, you're a victim) using venues like the Hide, any other forum you can find. It might not put him out of business but it might save one potential victim from being cheated, defrauded, essentially stolen from like myself and too many other guys. I'm a little guy in the big picture. I don't have the money to buy a dozen custom rifles. I certainly don't have the resources to be cheated and taken advantage of for over $4K and not be affected by the loss. It was HUGE for me. I am just a crippled, severely disabled veteran living on a too small military disability pension. It took me 2 years of saving and the sale of a vintage M1A that had 100% USGI parts to pay that prick for the junk rifle I got. Then after doing without to save the money and selling a rifle that I never should have sold, my reward was a piece of junk rifle that was completely unusable. Yet when I contacted Tactical Rifles about all the problems, politely I might add, I was insulted, treated in a totally disrespectful manner and essentially called an idiot by Rooney. So yes sir, I am putting the word out every way I can to save the next customer/victim or next disabled vet from going what I went through along with JeffD and Lord knows how many others before us.

Just remember guys, Alamo Precision Rifles - Hurst, Texas. Robert & Dave.
www.aprifles.com
Finest riflesmith and most honest man and staff I have ever met. Absolutely 100% honest with high integrity. This company and these boys are the Real Deal.

And they haven't needed to change the name of their company 3X. And no bad BBB complaints or bad reviews. Imagine that. It is a refreshing change from what I have been dealing with.

Rooney needs to be persuaded by other means than monetarily.

Maybe like being dropped off in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by very hungry animals, some bushmen who hate outsiders & some graduates from Kony's Daycare centers looking for some new clothes, with only one of his rifles that was freshly shipped to some unfortunate mark and see how long he lasts? (he can have some ammo too just to make it more interesting to watch him trying to use said items).
