Looking at a Zeiss V6 for a couple of hunting rifles. I've had some major tracking and RTZ issues with leupold. It appears that the V6 may be a potential option for a lighter scope with good glass that can still track reliably. However, I have seen no test results, nor have I seen enough feedback from users to confirm this. Is there any V6 users here that can confirm or deny the mechanical reliability of a V6. I am not expecting it to be on par with a NF or similar, but would hope it would hold up better than some of the other lightweight hunting scopes with dials.

Thanks

Tag for info on this. I had Conquest MC and HD5 scopes on light weight hunting rifles and got tired of "walking" them in every time i changed ammo or rifles. Hope these track true.

We have a V6 3-18 that i've not tested but something went wrong with it at some point. I zero'd it on dad's SAUM ran it out to 600yds for DOPE and let him have it. Went back to school and he kept missing deer. I figured he just didn't carry the range finder with him. Well he did and he was missing. I put it back on paper and it was 10" high. I've rezero'd since and we've taken 3 deer with it. One at 425yds, one at 270yds, and one at 190yds. Seems to be working now. I'll have to put it back on paper or do an official tracking test to really figure out if it was off. That or maybe the zero stop somehow slipped and i didn't realize.

I have one, and have had zero issues with it. While I haven't run a box test, I've verified it's clicks to 1380 and it was hitting where it was supposed to with my SAUM. Personally, I love it (the 3-18) model for a long range hunting rifle. I normally shoot about that power anyway, even on a 25x, so love having my reticle true on a power I actually shoot on. I'm VERY pleased with the turrets as well. Hunted hard this season with it, and took some falls on the scope. Held up very well. I personally think the turrets feel just as good as my ATACR. For a hunting scope, it's hard to get over 100MOA of elevation and turrets that good at 22oz. I'm definitely a fan!

It definitely is a lot of scope for the money. I Haven’t had an issue with ours since rezeroing.

I shot one on my 556 RPR, it tracked very well, it had a bit of a soft focus, but otherwise a very good scope. Use it at a local match and landed in the Top 10 with it against the open field.

I think the European versions are.

Ours is for sure not tracking. Took dads saum out to shoot some groups. 4” low and 5-6” right. This will be the third time I’ve zerod this gun.

Not indicative of the entire line obviously but this one is heading to Zeiss.

Is there a mil version?

Spoke with a rep at the Zeiss booth at the SCI show about a mil version, he stated they are coming as well as a FFP version.
I kind of got the idea that he felt a FFP version wasn't something that was needed.
Gave no idea of when the mil version will be released.

Any update on this?

They haven't given me an explanation but it's on it's way to germany, there was a problem.

I have a V6 5-30, as does my dad, and we both think they are excellent. I haven't done any true tracking tests other than just standard use but it has worked perfectly to my knowledge. We're kind of just getting into the long range game so I'm no expert at all, but I've dialed it to everything out to 700yds and it's always been on, and has always returned to zero. The only problem I've had with it, which is probably just personal, is that the clicks feel a little soft to me. My dad's has very positive feeling clicks though. It's a great scope for both of us. Definitely clearer than any others I've had or looked through. The light weight and 6x range is what sold us on it over an NXS.

I have a V6 5-30x50mm ZBR reticle mounted on my Varmint rifle . Had it in the field 3 times and it's great .Stayed on target as long as I shot same ammo. Switched from Sierra 55gr Blitzs king to Sierra 55gr SPBT different powder and had to re-adjust scope just like I would with any other scope. Haven't done a box test. This was a Demo I bought from Red Hawk Rifles for $1450.00 ,couldn't pass that deal up.(They list for $1800 bucks) Yesterday that same demo scope was listed at $1375 ! So what's not to love about that ? However if I didn't run into the demo price, and knowing now that the scope is great, but its not a Swarovski Z6. I might of past, or/and cried and bought the Swarovski .

Got the call back from Zeiss they said nothing was wrong with the scope. Which boggles my mind because they said it warranted being sent to the repair facility in Germany. Started to think maybe it was parallax but that’s just improbable with how well the fun is shooting. I’ve got two optics to try out on it though. Mainly my USO which i know tracks. So well get to the bottom of it

I had the same thing happen with an HD 5. One day, with no reason I could determine, it wasn’t zeroed any more. I couldn’t get it to zero either, just chased POIs all over the target. Sent it to Zeiss who sent it to Germany. Came back with statement that it worked correctly and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. No confidence in it after that. Down the road it went...

Fuck Zeiss, their scopes have decent glass but have never seen one track correctly. Leupold is in the same boat.

My dad is already skeptical about it. I’ve got some SH tracking targets. We shall see. But i find it hard to believe it was fine

Could have been the rings jamming it up, sometimes when it appears to stop working and then they look at it and it works, it's binding in the rings for whatever reason

Could be I’m not discounting it just yet just kind of scratching my head is all. When i got the scope i couldn’t true the parallax. It wouldn’t move. I broke it free but had to put some force to it. Which was a concern but then i couldn’t see any issue. Followed leupold instructions on their rings with the Borka torque tool. Maybe i over torqued?

I’m gonna throw my SN-3 on it initially just to rule out the gun if in fact it is that

Keep us posted! Mine has been spot on and error free so far, however it's packed much more than it's shot. But, it's held up to hunting bumps, brush, and falls real well. I keep checking the turrets out of habit, but haven't had any move on me while hunting yet, even while on my gun bearer and rubbing against my side, pack and going through brush. Hope you guys get it figured out quick!

Edit: Back when I was running the regular conquest line with target turrets, I sent 3 different 4.5-14x44 Conquests I think it was back in, and they always took good care of me and fixed me up promptly.

Will do i'm trying to find time to shoot. If we could just get caught up on the farm or catch a big rain. We haven't stopped since i got back. Hell i've only gotten to look at my K318i twice outside. I do have a good load for the SAUM with 143gr ELD-x over RL26. Just need to find time to get back in the reloading room.

The people at zeiss seem to be very confident in the durability and repeatability of this model scope. The person I talked to didn't recommend driving a nail with it but weight in at 23 onces with tha mag range I think it would be in reasonable to expect that. He was also not willing to tell me what was upgraded in the erector system to make it better than previous models...so who knows. I think it would be appropriate to give this scope some more time.

Keep us posted 5R. I think we can all come to the conclusion that it's not a NF... But it still has the potential to serve as a lighter weight scope in some capacity if perhaps you got a lemon.

I took it out today and rezero'd it without issue. I've got the rings somewhat in the middle length wise on the tube and only torqued to 18in-lbs. Seems to be fine. I was mainly looking to see how RL26 reacted to almost 20 degree Temp shift and it was on the money. Still not completely setup to do a tracking test but i'm working on it just need to build a target stand.

So figured out our issue was never the Zeiss it just took me this long..facepalming a bit but i did all of dad's load development with his saum with the Omega. He was still missing deer this year after i had already rechecked zero knowing it was holding just fine. Put it on paper without the can, it was high again. I put the hybrid on thinking that would fix it, still 2-3" high to the right. Put the Omega on...bullseye. So yeah all this time i was putting blame in the optic it was just the POI shift with the can. Which i guess i just couldn't believe because i've seen Jon's hellfire system barely shift at all, but admittedly a 3b isn't a straight taper m40/m24 or a heavy palma so maybe that's why or i'm overtorquing his adapters on my barrels idk. Either way it's solved, he's hunting with a can now. So i guess i accomplished my goal to some degree. I couldn't get him to use them before he didn't like the extra weight.
