I have no connection to this sale, just saw it on Gunbroker. Thought I'd post it here as I know some are interested in this type of thing. I've read about these new reproductions but never seen one for sale. $7,500 I don't think that's a totally unreasonable price given this is basically a hand-made gun. Quality seems exceptional...except for the last pic...maybe it just didn't photograph well.

you can purchase them new for 5k. But have to go on a waiting list. Rick Smith at SMGGuns makes them out of an 8lb block of billet steel. They are the shit. They are currently working on producing a type 1 (type 2 shown). These are great people to deal with. I have one and I’m on the waiting list for the type 1.

Germans built number of tacticool FG-42 clones in adition to traditional reproduction ,but company Sport-Systeme Dittrich that mede the whole effort of building the tooling to make all the stampings went bankrupt after large US customer screwed them over a decade ago.

That's badass... I saw one of those on a documentary or gun show or something. They couldn't get a real one so they used that. I couldn't tell the difference up close but I'm not a collector. If I was into it though I'd probably do it, it's not like any of us are gonna be able to get a REAL FG-42. And as for the shitty engraving, I'd just buff that shit off, refinish it and have it done professionally (people do this to KAC receivers to make them look like the M110 lowers). Put the mfg. info somewhere hidden and then copy the Nazi shit on there and it'd be a reasonable copy.

It's cool someone did this. And I bet he'll make a lot of money because I've heard countless people talk about how sexy it is and how that's their favorite "assault rifle". I've heard similar about the STG44 too.

I've been begging someone with the skills to PLEASE reproduce the Walther bullpup semi auto sniper rifle. Real ones go for $30,000, some come with a magnum conversion. That in .338LM would be the titties. There's a member on here that had one in two calibers and he SOLD that motherfucker... he said he still regrets letting it go.

It's a badass weapon. The original is even more badass! I watched a mini-documentary of the "Butcher of Omaha Beach",
Heinrich Severloh. Many will vilify him, as youtube did (content was removed), but he was a soldier doing his job. He basically hung on using the real MG-42 for the morning of June 6th, 1944 until he surrendered. When the initial assualt was over, he had caused somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 casualties. The U.S. was impressed enough with the design, we based our M-60 on it. But, we slowed the rate of fire to roughly half of what the MG-42 was capable of, 1200 RPM.

    The devils buzzsaw.

    Thanks for the post Buffalo!

If you’ve ever been to Greece during their version of our Independance Day celebration... you get to see them shooting tons of captured German weapons, quite illegally, including MG42s and MG34s.

The amazing part of Ricks guns is they are all machined from bar stock. Every piece. They have no metal stamping capabilities and purchase the bipods from Shoei.
    It is very labor intensive.
As for originals, I have seen two at auction with the barrels and chambers welded shut clear 100k.
It’s just a fancy Lewis gun. BUT it fires from open bolt on full auto and closed bolt on semi. This thread made me realize I had given him a deposit on the type one a year ago. This is a family operation you must realize, and they are currently paying the bills making the type 2. He has an ATF approved shop mule of the type 1 and is getting ready to get their feet wet with the type 1. If you can at all afford one, it is a work of art and labor of love. It isn’t likely anyone else will ever set up to make these. They have a menu and you can purchase 8mm or .308 with many finish options. Visit their site. He always returns emails promptly.

Heh. One of my friend has an MG34 in perfect working condition. Its absolutely a bkast to shoot. He won it at an ATF auction, and it cost him about $60k.

Full auto guns are one thing we have plenty more in Europe and they dont cost much ither, Here over the pond M34 cost couple of grand ,Mg42 less than 2K , old maxims are about 900$ all working full auto guns.
But much of the cheap suplus is now days going to ME as US and CGG firms buy up shit ,officaly it all going to ither Saudi Arabia or Jordan but doesnt take much to discern its used to arm terrorists and jihadis in Syria. So much for ITAR

Same shit hapening with old armor vehicles and tanks , for past cpuple of years prices on old soviet suplus skyrocketed.

Yup! If we hadn't had a "pro-gun" president sign an unconstitutional law into effect, we wouldn't be fighting that right now.

FWIW, surplus ammo used to be cheap as used nails over here, even in the days of many "brush wars". It's just the demand for it grew with collectors and underworld jokers vying for the same stuff.

Supply post 1991 surplus was huge, , arms producion droped dramaticaly in the ex warsaw pact states.Bunch of bushwars wouldnt drain it , But now you have long lasting Afghan and Iraqi conflict that burn imense quanties ,add to that half a decade of Syrian (syrian is the most heavily suplied insurgency of all time) ,Libyan conflict ,very important factor is that US doesnt allow for Chinese arms imports for Regimes it supplys trough contractors , so stock is mostly from Balkans,Eastern Europe and Ukraine.

Add the war in Eastern Ukraine ,that took huge chunks of Ukrainian supply off the world market (Ukraine used ot be just about the bigest arms bazzar in the world ,'Lord of War' Viktor Bout was mostly handling ukrainian stuff). Donbass the region where the fighting is going on , is and always was just about the most heavily armed region in the world (Soviets created Donbas stockpiles that held arms and ammunition in abandoned coal mines to arm cca 2mio fighting men in case of total war and about 2000+ tanks in open storage just toped up the stock.) At same time sanctions on Russia took much of Russian surplus of the market.

Old soviet gear was always easy to bring back to the fight , here a fucking monument ,IS-3 tank on a pedestal is being started.this one actualy went into combat and was capured at one point by Ukrainians.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. The current confilcts are eating it up. I would agree to that. But, what has, and is still, available here, is being consumed by the "collectors". Without re-supply, the price is obviously going to go up.
