AX barrel lock?

I’ve never seen that problem or experienced it but I also torque a little higher than spec as well as clean both mating surfaces and snug the barrel with a wrench before torquing.
I will make sure the surfaces are clean but the barrel im using doesn't have wrench flats.

While we are on the subject, any tips for a suppressor that wants to loosen when you shoot?

I had the same issue sometimes when i was just hand tightening the barrel and not taking the can off very often. Now i tighten the barrek with a wrench prior to torquing like mentioned above. I also remove my can more often and dont let it get carboned on so bad anymore.

Try using a strap wrench if you don't have flats, you're just looking to snug it on the action face a little, not really torque it. Pull the forend off when you install the barrel and reinstall after the barrel is on so you don't push any dirt particles that may be inside of it down.

No idea about a suppressor that loosens, sounds like a suppressor and/or mounting issue.

I've never had an issue with this. I remember thread(s) popping up in the past where guys were saying they needed more than the specified 49 in-lbs.

My technique when installing the barrel is to point the gun straight up, with the buttstock on the ground. Holding the gun tight between my legs to resist it twisting, I tighten the barrel as hard as I can with both hands. If you have an AX and the barrel is short, it's probably best to remove the handguard.

Then with the rifle on a bench (or at least on the ground with a bipod) I torque the Quick-Loc screw to 49 in-lbs. I run a TBAC Ultra suppressor with the CB brake, and after a 100+ round day, it's carbon'd on there pretty damn tight. I've never had the barrel move whatsoever when unscrewing the suppressor.

One other thing to consider, is the Quick-Loc screw is 49 in-lb for a reason. That screw size can only be torqued so far before it stretches and plastically deforms. I ran the numbers back when those original threads were popping up, and I think the guys going to even the 60-70 in-lb range could be stretching that bolt. So going to 70 or 80 in-lb might give you the false sense that "more torque = better", when in reality once you reach a certain threshold you're stretching the bolt past the point where it will elastically return, and then it will need more and more torque to reach the desired result. That all depends on the grade of the screw, so maybe AI specs something that can take 100 in-lb, but I can't say for sure.

I only have a sample rate of 1 but have several barrels and change them often. I never use any tools to install a barrel, just hand tight & the same for the suppressor. I also only torque to 49lbin. I have yet to have an issue of any kind, my zero's are 100% repeatable with no real POI shift (1/4" or less at 100 yards). Maybe you are installing your suppressor too tight? Just a thought...
 
Id normally agree with that Saamb300 but I believe AI way over designed their lock system. Gotta remember with the being issued and the provided hex key for field changes id be suprised if 49inlb is on the upper end of the threshold. How high is anyone's guess unless Terry comes on and fills us in.

With that said Id stick close to the 49. I torque to 55 simply because i had that fix-it-stick and I noticed an improvement in zero repeatability. A quick wrist snap to do the final barrel seat and then torque. If you don't have grease slobberd everywhere its always held for me.
