Hey guys I need some help!

Anyone out there have success using it with a can?

I can not get this thing to work right with a can. Please post up tip, tricks or anything else that might help.

Using it on a 6.5 creedmoor bolt gun 26” barrel.

This is not my pic, but when I bought mine I set it up in similar fashion and it has always worked:

I set mine behind and about 8" from the barrel and it works. The things are tricky and sometimes it takes a lot of fooling around moving it to find the sweet spot. More than once I've packed up and left because it would not pick up. Now that I've found that spot, it works every time. Thats suppressed from 300 BO subs to 338LM. Just keep trying. I've found using the straw sighting method helps too......

Can't say I've used mine with a suppressor on a rifle (I'm in CA), but my labradar is more than sensitive enough on trigger level 1 to trigger from a .22lr with match ammo (subsonic) without having to use the air rifle mic.

I do have to use the air rifle mic for my suppressed PCP air rifles though, and also remove the foam gust guard from the mic, otherwise it won't reliably trigger.

I use mine all the time with a suppressor. I set it 1-2 inches in front and 3 inches to the side and get a reading every time. Took some trial and error to figure it out. Obviously just double check it's not in the line of fire but this works best for me and I don't have the air rifle trigger. The little bit of forward setting insures some muzzle blast to activate the Labradar.

I run mine about 4-5 inches in front and 3 inches to the side. Setting at 1 I believe is most sensitive. Make sure you have your settings correct when running this close, if it’s set to 12” I have had issues running close to get it to trigger.

I agree use, the microphone / air gun trigger. With the microphone I have the unit setup even with the muzzle and 6 inches laterally. Picks up the projectile no problem.
For suppressed 22LR I use the microphone / air gun trigger and make sure to set the unit to the pistol setting.
For air rifle (even BB gun) I use the microphone / air gun trigger and set the unit to the archery setting.

As mentioned above, I set mine up like the picture. Close and behind the unit and it picks it very consistently. My 22BR suppressed after 26 rounds had only error'd on 1 shot.

Air gun trigger is what you need as others have already said. Side note if you shoot subsonics you will still need the mic but change the setting to hand gun mode and you will be g2g.

I use the airgun trigger. The problem with putting it in front of the muzzle is that you can't reach the controls from behind the gun. With the trigger, I take the bracket that is supposed to be used to attach it to the unit, and just set it under the muzzle and clip the mic trigger to it. Then I can set the unit back just ahead of the rifle's action and about 6 in. off to the left of it. That way I can run the controls on the unit from behind the rifle. I set the Offset function in the unit to 6 Inches.

That method is so last year vh20 have you not downloaded the app yet to rock your labradar via bluetooth? :)

No, I haven't needed to use it much since the app came out, and I think I'll have to update the firmware on mine to use the app. I have an iPhone and had heard the app was going to be for Android first and iPhone later so I didn't get in a rush. Then I heard they were coming out at about the same time, but I thought I'd sit back and let them work the bugs out before I tried to set mine up to run it.

How do you like it?

It takes it to a whole new level honestly and is finally worth the current asking price IMO...no more getting up and down between strings or to adjust settings. I cant speak to the Iphone version because I run android but the android version is great.

Cool. But, as I said, I don't have to get up to run the unit with the airgun trigger set forward and the unit set aft, so I'm not sure it would change much for me. I'll probably end up getting it though. Not the best pics, but here's my setup.

Thanks for all the help. Set it up like fong. 3inches in front of can and 3 inches side of can on trigger lvl1 and at 6inch setting. Picked up every shot.

The app isn’t great for iPhone but is better than nothing.

Never knew about the external mic so maybe I’ll ask Santa.

Got the SMK150’s rolling at 2750 with 8sd
SMK 140’s @ 2870 with 5 sd

Air gun trigger mic is relatively cheap at 44.95, but I’d almost bet any lapel mic (perhaps available cheaper?)with the correct 1/8” phone jack connector will work, and you don’t need the mounting bracket. You can clip it to pretty much anything you can set up by the muzzle. Folks at Labradar are polite and helpful and would probably tell you. The supplied mic has a “lapel clip” just like any other lapel mic, and I’ve even clipped it onto my Suppressor cover in a pinch and it worked great, although the whole idea of the Labradar over the MS3 was to get away from having anything attached to the barrel. The mic is feather-light though, plus it’s loosley attached to the cover, not rigid. It had no effect on impacts when clipped to the cover that I could detect.

It worked if I got it close in front of the unit and 3-4” to the side certainly. However now that I have the air gun trigger it doesn’t really matter at all if it’s in front of or behind or right next to or 18” away to be honest.

Mine had a similar issue out of the box, it would only pick up maybe 1 in 10 suppressed and maybe 50% unsupressed or pistol. Sent it back and they fixed it, said they would probably put in a new microphone but not sure what they did. It's been 100% with everything since then.

I use the microphone that comes with it. Just rest it under the barrel and it should pick it up just fine. Ensure the lab radar is aimed at the target using the sighting cut out. It’s more critical when shooting suppressed in my experience

shoot under the labradar. tripid set real low. a short stool. or just a few 2x4s for legs and a plywood top. sort of like shooting under one of those old metal leg chairs from elementary school if you cut the legs in half

My previous posts in this thread on the air gun trigger were made before I became aware of wildmanpiet's recoil trigger. I bought one from him and I've never used the air gun trigger again. Air gun trigger works fine, but the recoil trigger is a superior solution, and price is almost identical. And yes, the air gun trigger would send false triggers to the unit in the wind as he said above.
