Classic Accuracy International ACIS/AWM chassis grip woes

Yeah... I know its not 2003 anymore but I still like the old classic style AI rifles. Up until the last couple years they didn't get much use. Now they get shot at least once a weak. I've found that the grip just doesn't seem to fit me all that well. I was wondering if anyone has come up with any creative solutions for increasing the distance between the rear of the grip and the trigger? I have fairy large hands and I find the position of the trigger in relation to the grip somewhat cramped. Also, I realize the solution is most likely viper skins but I just can't warm up to them. I was looking at swapping the trigger to a something with an adjustable shoe like the T7T or the CE Custom but really don't want a single stage in the case of the Timney.

I like the legacy AICS as well. But i reference my trigger hand on the front on the grip and loosely place my thumb behind the grip. I actually like the extra space between my thumb and the back of the grip so I don't influence pressure on the chassis when firing.

I tried a similar technique in the past. It seemed to work OK with the 308 but the 300 win mag wasn't consistent at all. Either I just suck or the 300 seems to be very unforgiving of poor technique. It seems to like a pretty firm hold.

You are absolutely right. If I don't build my position correctly it shows immediately in that I either miss completely or I end up way off target when come out of recoil. The hardest thing for me to do is to relax my shoulders while keeping the rifle firm into it. I have a tendency to want to buck the recoil. Anyway, this freakin win mag has exposed every bad habit I have. Sure does smack the steel when you do it right though.
