With this and HR 7115, you would think they won the lottery. You just wait, when the boarder wall comes up in 2019, funding will be attached to something like this. And the Republicans seem to be rather upset that they are still in power and are trying their best to help the Democrats win all three branches.
Possibly they hate trump enough they would rather loose everything to the Democrats.

I respectfully disagree......from my vantage point, they are (and have been) in it for the long game. And, (by their standards) they have been doing quite well with it. Look at where we are at today, then compare that to ten, twenty, thirty, forty and even fifty years ago. Average American society has changed radically over time and not for the better. I used to think that once they had achieved "this or that" goal, they would stop and things would return to relative normalcy. I was dead wrong. You guys see what is happening, just don't believe for a minute that things are going to return to "normal" anytime soon. I think they have made up their game plans well in advance of, and well beyond DJT's tenure. If they manage to run him out on a rail, all the better. If not, they have plans in place for after he's gone. As much as I hate to say it, R's/Conservatives just do not have the long vision/planning capacity that the libs have. That has to change, but it only comes through leadership. Who, besides DJT comes to mind in that regard ? In that sense, DJT is an anomoly. We need hundreds, or better yet, thousands/tens of thousands of DJT type, like minded leaders, all over the country, in places of power. And, I don't think the libs could give a shit about a civil war. With as many .gov agencies infested with them, they are probably pretty confident it could be quelled pretty easily. However, not without first exacting a high toll rate on the opposition.

Your other points are spot on BUT I think Trump getting elected was an indicator of that tipping point. Trump was not elected because he was the best candidate, had the best platform or was the best talker. Trump was elected because of an angry middle America/middle class that felt screwed by Obama and feared an even worse screwing under Klinton. That scared the Demokrats more than anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. Just look at their tactics since Trump was elected. They have been aggressive, violent and lied at every turn to meet their objectives, even more so than usual. Why is the House being so aggressive? To push back against that possible tipping point.

Meh, we will see what happens over the next two years and the picture will become more clear over that time.

And herein lies the problem. One would naturally make the assumption that what would rise from the ashes would be something better. Positive thinkers do that. That, as opposed to the status quo of the republican party remaining and most hard working, God fearing Americans being boiled like frogs, over time. They are a couple of shitty choices. Most people have too much skin in the game to risk losing it all, which is why no one seems to get severely bent out of shape over all this shit. Americans have prospered (relatively speaking) for far too long and have never had to really sacrifice. There is no more "Greatest Generation", there has not been a WWII in most Americans lives to galvanize/solidify society. They (I must include myself here) don't want to risk what they have by getting involved in any kind of uprising. It is only when you have lost everything and you no longer have anything more to lose, that you can genuinely "risk it all".

Well put Threadcutter308, I couldn't agree with you more. WWII the country came together to fight true evil. The battle lines were clear and they put aside their petty differences to come together and defeat it. Since then we have had a lot more, I wouldnt call it peace, but quiet. With no clear enemy in today's world, Americans have turned to drawing those battle lines between ourselves. With no clear battle lines or common enemy our country has become shattered and fractured with two very different belief systems.

The battle lines are now drawn between neighbors, towns, counties and states of this country. Every day the distance between us and them grows larger. With every bill they try to pass, they drive the wedge deeper and widen the split. Drive a wedge into a piece of wood and eventually, it breaks in two.

I dont see this attack on 2A going away unless something happens to take their attention away from it. If that doesn't happen then they aren't going to stop. My fear is that while we are arguing amongst ourselves our real enemies are getting organized. Just imagine how helpless our country would be if disarmed? Not only against foreign threats, but domestic.

Our guns are the last bit of power the people still hold. Everything else has been neutered and watered down. Our forefathers knew that for the people to have even a snowball's chance in hell against tyranny, the right to keep and bear arms would not be infringed. I wish that there was a way we could come together, especially on 2A. But the line has been drawn and the battle is not just for 2A, but the last and only bit of power we the people have left.

I did a very poor job of describing my position, your comment has caused me to realize that. And, it's glaringly obvious. I knew better than to include that phrase even before I hit Post, but I ignorantly did so anyway.

Let me try this again;

I am by all standard definitions, a "Senior". I am at a much more diminished physical capacity than at any other time in my life. That just comes with old age. If the shit were to hit the fan, I would be of very little use to anyone, probably more of a hinderance. Having said that, I still believe in the rule of law, in spite of the continual lack of justice that we see each and every day. I personally do not want to see things decay to the point where there is wholesale human suffering on a massive scale. Some others here apparently have a different opinion. I'm not going to criticize or trash them for those opinions, everyone has the individual right to express them.
My hope is that the majority of these problems can be rectified and justice served via peaceful means, within the law. Does that mean that there would never be a time or circumstance that would cause me to rise to the "occasion" ? No, not at all. I just do not believe that we are there yet. I want the justice system to be restored to functioning in the manner by which the Founding Fathers intended. For those that embrace the acceleration of the slide down the slippery slope, you can't be unaware that is what the left wants to happen and is hoping for (?). You know exactly what would happen if a Conservative pulled off a "reverse" James Hodgkinson/Steve Scalise type of attack. The left would go after everything via new legislation and the majority of the American public would support them.
