Just purchased a Seekins Havak pro hunter PH1 in 6.5 PRC, and want to put a Razor HD Gen II 3-18x50 Riflescope on it. Any feedback on this scope? Thanks

Most of my hunting rifles/scope combos weigh about 10 lbs, but I think this one will weigh a little more. I was not sure about this combo either, but I will have to get it put together and see how it works out. I wanted to go with some really good glass. For the type of hunting I do it should work fine (hopefully).

If I was going on a sheep hunt I would be running a different combo for sure.

What optic is everyone running on their 7 lbs hunting rifles?

It's an awesome scope. Been using one for years on my match rifles. A ton of elevation, great big eye box, great glass and reticle and the usual Razor II knobs and features. Can't go wrong with it.

Im using the Bushnell 3-12 LRHS. The reticle is awesome for hunting and 12x is plenty mag for a dedicated hunting rifle. It does give up glass quality to the gen 2 razor, but I find I use my binoculars for scanning anyways. Once I spot an animal, the LRHS is plenty to get a shot off.

As long as you don’t hate the weight of the scope/rifle combo you will be happy with the 3-18 vortex

The reticle in 3x is small, but if you need to take a shot on a critter at close range, turn the illumination on to make thr reticle “pop” more

Some vortex defender scope covers should work well and are cheap

I have decided to get a gun (later on) to match this scope. Seekins is now making a tactical bolt. I will wait until they make that in a few more calibers. Maybe the 300 PRC. I am going to put a Nightforce ATACR 4-16x50mm F1 ZeroStop .250 MOA DigIllum PTL MOAR C617 on the gun I ordered. That should suit the pro Hunter better. ?

I have every reason in the world to think you’ll love the ATACR 4-16.
Honestly, some people like it more than others, but I’ve never read anywhere where someone DIDN’T like it.
It’s just a great scope. Like I said, some folks (like me) LOVE them, some folks are “yeah, it’s cool. But I’ve never read a “bad” review.
The size is good, they track awesome, they’re not super heavy, hell bent for durable, etc, you get the idea.

I shoot a 4-16 on my gas gun, and a 5-25 on my bolt gun. Both are H59 reticle for commonality between scopes. For now, with what the market currently offers, I couldn’t be happier.
Congratulations on your ATACR. Please do update us with your thoughts.

I'm interested to hear how it performs when you're shooting out to 1000, and in particular how things looks at max magnification. I do like that magnification range for hunting. It works well as a sort of mid-range spotting scope (i.e., better than x10 or x15 power binos) and should allow you to identify properly the animal you want to shoot.

Have used mine in matches to past 1200 yards on about 18" targets and no issues seeing targets so seeing animals shouldn't be an issue. Shot 10" at 1000 and again no problems. It's very clear on 18x and is one of my favorite scopes as in most matches I rarely go above 18x. It has a lot of elevation too.

Lost me when he said Razor clicks are not audible. They are very audible and tactile. You can hear them with ears on. Have 5 of them and all are like this.

Not sure where you picked that quote up from. I said not as audiable as some others. Mine was much quieter then yours. Adjustments felt good and we're fine, but very quiet. Sample of one though. I don't have five razors to compare.

Anyways.. I have shot my 3-18 to 700 on 10 inch plate with a hunting rifle and seems to do well. Weight was why I replaced it on that specific rifle. Good scopes, but not exactly paired well on a light weight hunter. Just one man's opinion of course.

Ok not as audible is what was said but having used a lot of the other optics it is as audible and tacticle as any I have used from Hensoldt on down including S&Bs, NF and USOs.

I don't doubt you at all. Just what my sample of one was like. That's all.

Not a huge difference in weight, but noticable. I like the retical on the nightforce better, but I like the turret/zero stop on the vortex better.

so here is my question...why does audible matter? I am a hunter and dont shoot in comps so would prefer quieter. I am not counting clicks or anything. I just turn the dial to whatever value i want and go back to looking at the animal

It's not so loud it would spook any animal as you can see in the video but loud enough so if you did need to reach up in lowlight and make an adjustment you can.

Noticeable in the hand but mount both and you won't feel it on the rifle. Same when I replaced the S&Bs with the Razor. If you hold them in the hand you can feel the slight difference in weight but mounted the rifle felt the same.

On a related note, the objective bell threads on the NF NXS 50mm and VTX RZR II 50mm are the same--I was able to use my shorter black nxs shade on the 3-18, which was nice as i didn't want to trim down the rzr's.
But, the 56mm RZR II and 56mm NXS threads are not the same, go figure.
The Rzr II series lured me away from the NF ATACRs, especially with the $1K premium these days.
I would love a MIL-C or XT NF, but not when the Rzr II is getting nice updates for less. I really enjoy BOTH companies' ethos and product.
Looking real forward to some through the scope pics of the EBR-7C !!
