My Valkyrie build will be done in a few weeks and I need a chassis. Since I haven't handled any and there is no where local for me to see them in person I'm finding it hard to decide. Right now my favorite is the Magpul Pro 700.
Also looking hard at the KRG Xray and MPA Hybrid. Any advice or guidance is appreciated. Rifle will be used for range use 90% of the time. Won't be hunted with by may consider PRS type matches in the future. If anyone can provide some feedback on the Magpul Pro I'd appreciate it. Not much out there other than the preliminary review by Lowlight and a few other videos on YouTube. Also open to other suggestions for chassis I should consider. I do have a budget though, trying to keep it sub $750.

I love my KRG Bravo. Completely tricked out with a spigot bipod mount, Arca rail and tool-less butt pad adjustment it is well under $750. I also have an XLR Evolution that I love, but that dude is heavy. I think the XLR Evolution would be more than $750 but they do have a less expensive version that is for the most part the same functionality minus the enclosed hand guard.

I have a JHR coming that will be in a Bravo. Considered twinning but I like variety.

I've looked at the XLR stuff and I'm just not a fan of the aesthetics. I know some guys are function over form but if I'm spending my money I want both.

While I really like the MPA Competition and the MDT ACC, they're both above my budget. The ACC looks sweet.
I meant you wouldn’t be disappointed with an MPA. You had mentioned the hybrid chassis. I’ve used one and the are nice. I’ve also used the MPA lite and it’s pretty good too however I like the turn knob adjustments for the cheek riser and butt pad. Both are well balanced depending on what type barrel your running.

I gotcha, thanks. There are a ton of the MPAs in the wild so they must be ok.

I put an MDT chassis (LSS-XLGen2) on my first rifle and it is fantastic. Not cheap. There are few decent chassis under $500 - $700.

XLR, MDT, and others are good stuff but yer gonna have to spend some money to get that. It's worth it.

Brownells BRN-1 is an MDT LSS with their name on it and you can get it for $399 on sale right now. Bout as cheap as you’ll find a decent chassis

I just got the hybrid about a week ago, and my immediate impressions are that it is excellent. Loving the fit and finish so far! I got mine from BDU for sub $600 so that would fit into your price range.

I was a little disappointed when I realized that the weight tuning kit didn’t come with it, but they never expressly say it does - I just somehow got it into my mind that it did.

Besides that - which was all me - I really have been liking it when I’ve got the rifle out messing around with it. It offers a huge amount of upgrades that you can use later when you have the finances to do so. And it is VERY light weight. I haven’t put it on a scale or anything but I’m not sure that it weighs 3.5lbs, it feels like a large toothpick in my hands.

Appreciate the feedback. BDU is where I was looking at the MPAs.

Another vote for the MPA. I have the comp, but I'm sure the other is just as nice. I've had a bravo, liked it, but I like the mpa a lot more. I havent shot the magpul, but just handling the chassis in the store I'm definitely glad I went with the MPA over it

The only thing I will say that’s negative about it is that I wish there had been more color options. I don’t think the orange looks very good, especially with the white logos. I know I’m just being picky but I think I would’ve like green over the orange.

However, what you save by going with BDU is vastly more than what it would cost to have someone cerekote it, and way more than what it would cost to just give it a good once over with a rattle can (thinking of doing this myself).

Edit: if you have any direct questions about it that you think I may be able to help with just let me know.

I have also handled a magpul 700 frame and was not super impressed by it. If you just want the cheapest option it’s fine but I think it’s worth it to spend a little more for the bells and whistles. No experience with the KRG.

So one question I have about the MPA chassis...when looking at the MPA website they have the option of picking a specific Rem 700 clone action (in my case appropriate would be the TL3). What's the difference between that option and the Rem 700 short action option? I was under the impression I could just pick up a Rem 700 SA inlet and be fine.

I have a 2 MPA comps and a hybrid. If I were in your shoes, I would buy the hybrid. Nice and light to hunt with but you could easily shoot a match with it. It doesn't have the wheel adjustments, but I've never messed with mine once they are set, so I don't see the problem. I have also never seen anyone at a match start cranking on them. Sorry never had a KRG or Magpul to compare.

Do you have the folding stock for any of them? I have a very small safe that the hybrid currently barely fits in. Was thinking about getting the folding stock so I can make that situation a bit easier, but I don't want any wobble while I'm on the gun. Do you get any wobble from it?

The Bravo is a better stock, especially ergonomically.

    Why is that?

Your TL3 will probably fit in the R700 chassis. The specific chassis’s accommodate and have a cut out for more space around things like a side bolt release and maybe more space around the bolt depending on angle of you clone action. I run Surgeon and got the surgeon chassis from mpa but it would fit in R700

I gotcha. I see that it says Rem 700 (and clones). So fingers crossed it works since I ordered.

I’ve tried too many of them. Here’s how I’d rate the ones I’ve used (MDT ACC on order, so it’s omitted, but I suspect it’ll top the list)

MDT ESS (above your stated budget)
    XLR Envy
    MDT LSS Gen II
    XLR Element
Accurate Mag Chassis on Howa HCR

The Envy has an ARCA/RRS dovetail on the bottom. You can get a full one or have a pic at the front.

ESS and Envy just feel better made than the others. I wish the ESS had an open-top forend version, but the ACC has that.

MDT has a butt stock mount that isn’t like an AR. The AR type mounts are great, but a little cuddly to get things lined up.

Both MDT and XLR are great companies to work with. Their staff are knowledgeable and very friendly, and both have engaged presence here on the Hide.

MDT CHASSIS W/PRS BUTTSTOCK. All in your price range. 500$ everything in picture minus scope/bipod/ barreled action
