I’ll cut to the chase. I’ve got a Tango6 which I love aside from the turrets espically with a gloved hand. What I’m looking for is a scope that has positive clicks to be felt, reticle choices are negligible. Stick with mil/mil and 10mil turrets. New or used doesn’t matter. Had a XRSII and loved it. I chose the Tang6 because the reticle but I like the G3 well enough too. Illumination isn’t necessary but it’s nice. Looking to spend somewhere around 15-1700, going above my range isn’t really an option as I’m saving for my nucleus barreled action and stock.

Still not sure what you will find at that price range that will get you leaps and bounds above the Sig. I have a Sig 3-18 and compared to my other scopes it would be dead last. Not overly impressed with it, glass is okay. Turrets are terrible, I see no point in locking turrets. Level plex is okay but does have some drawbacks. The Dev-L reticle is nice but I like other tree reticles more.

The only thing that comes to mind that would be very close to that budget might be a used Razor Gen 2 that somebody is trying to unload quickly. Even then it might need to be around 18-1900. Everything else from Nightforce and Kahles, S&B, etc. is still probably going to be over $2k used.

That’s what I was afraid of. Might just go back to XRS 2, the turrets were better than my Tango6. Ugh. Thanks.

Evidently the turret feel on the Tango6 can be improved by lightly oiling some O-rings in the turrets themselves.

That said, if you're determined to get rid of it, the Athlon Cronus BTR might be worth a look.

Nathan, it’s been a while! I hope you are well. IMO the best scope for the $ right now is the MK5, it will be a little over your budget but if you shop the used market maybe you can get one. I have owned most everything out there but recently switched over to the MK5’s I have both 3-18 & 5-25 with the CCH. They leave nothing on the table!

As we have talked in the past Bushnell is always my pick for a “budget friendly” scope.

I hope you & yours have a great Christmas!

Thanks JBell! You too, thanks for advice. I’ll check them out.

Hello from Minnesota. Curious if the Steiner T5Xi 5-25 made your evaluation list. I still really like how mine handles in the cold with glove hands, they are distributed and serviced by Burris in the US, and if you shop around a bit one can find them in the $1700 price range.

I shoot this along side the GF‘s Gen 1 Razor and a buddy’s XTR-II and another’s Kahles. Might be an option to consider.

Stay warm!

I’ve got an XRTII 4-20 and the turrets are great but the tight eye box and somewhat mediocre glass (especially above 16x) have me seriously eyeing the ATACR 4-16x42. Just trying to decide on whether I want the MIL-C or if I’m willing to wait for the MIL-XT.

Hello fellow Minnesotan, I’ve been considering it just need to look at the reputation, for a while I think they had tracking issues.

There is a guy in the PX selling a bunch of Gen 2 razors for less than $1,700.

I’ll take a look.

If you've still got that XRS2, I'd stick with it.
Traded it for the Tango6-thought it was the right move. First season in PRS style shooting. Budget is tight so only one gun and scope.

Thanks for the input, I’ll consider it.

I would consider the Steiner TX5I 3-15.
I have the Kahles 3.5-18 right now,
2 Minox ZP5 MR4s, 2 AMGs , and have had
4 gen II Razors recently and a ATACR 4-16
And a few Cronus BtRs. All nice and a few great
Scopes.
The Steiner has a bit of CA which I don’t care for but it is tracking and the tactile clicks
On the elevation and windage are not what I expected. They are surprisingly good. Especially
Considering what I paid for it. Which was well below the max you have listed for spending.
