So thanks to you I have the RT90C on the way after several wasted hours of tripod research lol. Hopefully it will be a good first tripod for me! Question, will the tripod lay flat? I am torn between the RRS TA-30 and the RRS universal leveling base, the universal seems like it would be easier to work while on a gun because the tension collar is right under the gun and the TA-30 is on a joystick way underneath. Can anyone comment on this question?

I just got my tracking number. the email takes me to an official Hong Kong carrier website (similar to UPS or FedEx) and asks for the tracking number to verify. The email also said to give it a few days for the carrier to acknowledge custody of the product and update its progress. This is on par with UPS and FedEx, also. So everything is moving along as expected, if its legit. No red flags as of yet. For $221, after the %20 discount, I had to take the chance. They only except PayPal, so im not sure how they would steal credit card information that way, although im sure it's possible. I also researched the website on the internet. It fell right in the middle of whether it was possibly a scam site or not. No real feedback. Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed it shows up. iI not, I report the fraud and ill update here. Im Hoping Quiggs responds and says it's arrived, or at least the carrier website is actually registering the tripod by now.
@NOMADIC3599 Lay flat as in getting really low to the ground? If that’s what you’re talking about then yes. It can get really low. I posted a pic of it a few replies back.

TA-3? It might kiss the ground with the 2.5" handle version. It should definitely hit with the 4.5 and hook.
I have the RRS TA-U-LC on my PVA Comp 40 tripod (which looks damn near identical to the RT90C in the pics) and it was on my Feisol before the Comp 40, so I've spent a few years using it. Honestly, I love it. I've tried the TA3 and didn't care for it. For me, there's a sweet spot in the tension that allows me to be really stable, but still allows me to pan to my next target and I can get into that zone much easier with the collar rather than the joystick. It might be that I'm so used to the TA-U-LC after using it for several years, but I find I can adjust the tension "finer" on my TA-U-LC than I could on the TA3 to get into that sweet spot.
Edit: I can also get pretty close to prone (as low as the tripod will allow) with the TA-U-LC and still manipulate the collar. Not sure I would be able to do that with the TA3 since the joystick would get int he way. The difference between the TA-U-LC and the TA3 is the TA-U-LC bolts on to the threaded bolt on the tripod's center plate, while the TA3 sits in the bowl after removing the plate and is essentially held by the collar. I've never had any issues with my TA-U-LC coming loose, but I added a drop or two of blue Loctite before I spun the leveling base onto the threaded bolt. Just know you can tighten the tension collar on the leveling base to a point where it'll be tighter than the junction between the base and the threaded bolt and with a rifle in the leveling base, you're basically talking about a long lever, so you can theoretically loosen or tighten the leveling base from the tripod by pushing against the side of the buttstock

Fair warning though.. The RT90C is pretty beefy and substantial. It's probably close to 5-6 pounds. For a hunting setup I would look at the RT80C perhaps.
That’s my plan. I’m going to order a TA-3 after the first of the year. From my reading it should fit. Stable platform.. the tripod or the TA-3?
I was wondering about the stability of the entire setup, tripod with TA-3 installed? And I was wondering about the TA-3 compatibility, does it need shims like many are using with the Feisol tripods?
I wish I had more optimistic news for ya but im really questioning if the website is legit. I also recieved a tracking number for Hong Kong Post but when I check it I get "There is no record on the subject item." When I put the tracking number into USPS it tells me a label was created but not yet in the system. Dont know if they would go through so much trouble as to get it into the USPS system if it was a scam but who knows. They said up to 15 business days to recieve it which Im still under and I sent an email today. Wonder if I will get a reply. Colonel whats your tracking number? Curious if its the same. I hope you have better luck then me and let me know if yours shows up in the Hong Kong Post.
yes the joystick hits the ground first. With a shorter joystick it would be pretty much completely flat. You could cut the standard stick down.

Well mine is different for whatever its worth. Ill give it some time before I pursure fraud claims through paypay. Was also curious if the gov shutdown would delay items being cleared through customs.

For the RT80. When you say it’s not as smooth. Do you think it’s good enough for coyotes or prairie dogs at 400 yards or so?

I was noticing the bottom of the RRS universal leveling base has a male bolt and the base on the RC90 has a male bolt, is one of these removable so you can use the universal leveling base and RC90 together?

If im understanding you correctly then yes. On the top of the tripod is a plate with a male threat that allows you to connect a ball head. You can remove the plate on the tripod that will leave a hole to put the leveling base in it and the top of the leveling base will now have the male thread to attach an arca plate, ball head, ect.
If you remove the plate on the tripod then you have to use a 75mm bowl and the TA-3 leveling base. The plate has to stay in order to mount the universal leveling base. So will the male bolt remove out of the plate so you can have a female thread to thread the male bolt from the leveling base into it?
The bottom of our TA-U-LC, Universal Leveling base is threaded 3/8", it does not have a threaded post. It will attach to your tripods male post. I think you may have seen a picture of our 2 series leveling base that looks identical minus the mounting option.

@NOMADIC3599, now that you have one in hand can you confirm if it goes lower than the 15" height with legs collapsed and set at 37 degrees as shown on the Amazon store?
The pictures/diagrams at Amazon Innorel store shows it as only having two leg positions (69 and 37 degrees) and a min height of 15".

I'm not saying the PVA Comp 40 and the RT90C are the same, but they look almost identical and the Comp 40 has three leg positions, one being almost flat

I'd seen your earlier post but I am still curious if that third, almost flat position, is actually locked in place or is it just down that low because the limit of travel on the hinge has been reached?

It’s well built for sure, I weigh 230 and gave it a good weight test with legs all the way extended in the most vertical setting and it ain’t budging. Obviously you kick out the legs more and it gets weaker but that’s to be expected with any of them. Good find for sure.

Yup Amazon it was for me. I ended up paying a bit more in the end but the tripod was in my hand in less than a week and I was given the option of the extended warranty. Even at $325 it’s still a heck of a deal considering what you are getting. I’d pay $300 all day long for them.
One thing I noticed is the measurement of the opening where a video bowl would go when you remove the mounting base with the male stud is the opening is 85mm. The rrs TA-3 has a 75mm video bowl so I’m not sure how they are supposed to work together unless I’m missing something??

I bought from 6elec.com. Price was just over $220, after a 20% holiday discount, but I'm still waiting on delivery. I figured the $100 savings was worth a shot, but if you don't want to risk it, Amazon is definitely the way to go. So far, I have nothing assuring me it will ever be delivered, but I'm still inside the projected delivery timeframe and I figure the holidays may increase that expected delivery time. Only time will tell.
