Some were painted exceptionally well and would be extremely difficult to figure out the direction, speed and so forth by U-boats at the time.
This one for example is probably the best one I've seen.

The Swedes use a similar thing in camp colors on their vehicles.

Well, at least it's right in the text ;-)

Yes, they did some interesting stuff.

Including Mountbatten Pink in WW2. The Navy never allowed it as the sailors were too afraid it would make them look like poofs.

But the hard-men of the SAS had no problem with it!
