Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that don't make it over to the reloading for sale section that I'm now selling a high grade lanolin case lube made from anhydrous lanolin and 99% isopropanol. It's as pure as it comes. I emulsify it until it turns clear and all is in solution before bottling, so all you have to do is heat and shake till clear and you're good to go (pretty much all lanolin lubes have to be warmed if they're cold).

I make it in 8:1 ratio standard, that's very strong and will size BMG brass with ease. You can cut it or I can cut it to any ratio desired. 8:1 and 16:1 are the two most popular, the 16:1 spreads better, lasts longer, thinner coat and works well for easier to size brass like 5.56, 7.62, etc.

Comes in the reused alcohol bottle. You'll need to use your sprayer (this also helps keep costs down).

Cost is $12 per bottle plus $10 shipping; shipping is the same for two, so $22 for one and $34 for two bottles. In perspective, Dillon lube is 16:1 or less and costs more for a weaker solution in a smaller bottle.

There really isn't a better product for the price and I'm not just tooting my own horn, I made this stuff specifically for that reason. We like the best around here and I just took that to include case lube.

You can PM me from here if you like or you can look at the ad "Very High Quality Case Lube", there's some info on there as well as some customers that wrote back to rate or review it. So far no complaints and I don't expect to have any, but if I do I'll handle it Johnny on the spot.

Hope to hear from you guys!

A little goes a looooooooong way.

I made up a 12oz bottle and have done north of 12k 5.56 cases, and 4k Grendel cases....and I am still on the same bottle.

Yeah man, it's some STRONG stuff! You can dilute it by half and it still is more than capable of handling 5.56, 7.62, etc. I wanted to offer a better product at a better price than what was out there and I found out I could do it.

I'm running 9:1 alcohol to Lanolin. My next batch will probably be 12:1. I reused the same freezer bag, and now foil covered cookie sheet. The alcohol reactivates the lanolin that was left on the bag and tray, so the initial application for a fresh batch of brass is cut in half.

I used Stryker's big fantastic bottle of lube as it comes mixed (8:1) to size down some 6.8 SPC brass to 6x6.8.
I stand my cases up in a designated loading block and spray down the outside of the cases with the lube.
I can run them through my dies and neck down in one single step.

The lube works great, just make sure to shake the hell out of it first as it has a tendency to separate if sitting for any length of time.

If I were just FL sizing fired brass, I could get away with using it at 10:1 or maybe higher, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

    Thanks for the lube, Stryker!

Hey, no problem, and be sure to warm it before shaking. If you use really hot water and warm it until it shakes and turns into a urine looking color, it'll all be in solution and spray and spread MUCH better.

16:1 would still be a pretty potent mix for easy to size brass. You'd maybe use a bit more, but you'd have twice as much to start with, and it'd spread better. Or it can be used 8:1 and I offer it now in whatever ratio you want, 8:1 being default. 8:1 will make sizing large and difficult cases easier. And easier sizing means less wear and tear on dies and less stress in the brass.

    Lanolin? Like sheep's wool?

Yep. It's a waxy oil on their wool. You can use the pure lanolin as a skin moisturizer (it's strong stuff when you get it on your skin) or as a natural spread on waterproofing. It also prevents bacterial grow and is hypoallergenic, amazing considering where it comes from.

And I got a great big 'ole bag ready to turn into more lube!

My reloading room is in the basement and is typically much cooler than the rest of the house so I will try to warm it up next time. Either way, it worked well and made life easy.

So uh, for us 'unwashed', how is this compared with Imperial sizing wax? That is what we've been using for over a decade.

This is not a slam or a slight in any way. I'm asking because there's always room for improvement and progress (on my part) hence why I'm asking.

Its a spray you can do larger batches all at once with. The imperial wax you have to do them one by one. Depending on how youve developed your sizing regimen you may not mind doing them one at a time, I like to do them all at once and then just feed them in without first spinning each case in my fingers.

I like the spray because I like to get a bit inside the necks as well, with wax you need to take a q tip to do so or dip in graphite. So thats my reasoning for why I like the spray.

Hey! I been thinking about trying to make a wax like Imperial, but I just never get around to it. I was thinking beeswax and lanolin maybe, but not sure. I have a can I kept around when I used the Dillon spray. I needed it because the Dillon spray didn't do well for BMG brass so I'd have to rub every so many. I made this so I wouldn't have to use the Imperial or have hard to size brass.

When it's warm and a clear urine color, it works best. It's strong enough to dilute, as much as 100%, and that'll still easily size 5.56 and 7.62 and it sprays and spreads better thinned. And lasts longer. Oh, and I should say avoid a carboard box for spraying in, the brass touching the cardboard wicks into the cardboard leaving the brass without lube. A plastic bag works best but if you have more or larger cases, easy to mix and spread, a plastic tub is fine too. Or whatever your method.

And yeah, it'll get inside the necks and that's pretty easy to do by shaking the brass in the tub you're spraying 'em down in and they should orient neck up, or most of 'em, and hit 'em like that. Shake and do it again and you should have enough done that if you miss a few there'll still be enough lube left on the expander from the previous case to make it happen. That's how I do it anyway.

It's good stuff. I've been using it as it comes (very sparingly).

@Strykervet What's the min % alcohol I should use if I dilute it? Thanks.

It's up to you, but know that 2oz. is one part. So 10:1 would be 4oz. and 16:1 would be a full 16oz. bottle. It could be diluted to 16:1 for use on easier to size brass like .308, etc., and it'll spread easier and last longer that way. Just spray and coat well (within reason, should still be somewhat sparingly). Still needs to be warmed for best results, especially when it's cold and a solid.

It is very concentrated, so cutting it double won't render it too weak to use, not by a long shot. And if you have a second bottle, you can keep that as is and if it's too weak, you can always put some of it in there as well as have some 8:1 for hard to size or to cut later if desired. Pretty flexible in how you can use it actually.

90% minimum, 99% is much much better and its easily found on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Swan-Isopropyl-Alcohol-percent-Pint/dp/B00ZCCYTWG?th=1.

Yes. Iso Heet is also 99% isopropyl (isopropanol) but kind of expensive. Small phrarmacies should carry 99%, just call. And of course Amazon.

91% can be used to cut it some, but if going 16:1 I'd probably want the 99%. There's just more water in 91% that takes longer to dry and I suspect the water won't fully mix with the lanolin, especially in quantity. If you do try it, I'd add one part at a time and go back one if there's trouble.

I've just never used 91% but I do have some. Maybe one day soon I'll try and test that out just to be able to say for certain how much, since it is more available it turns out for most.

I can also provide it cut to the ratios you prefer if you ask prior. But do know that if you cut the pure 8:1 yourself, it'll last longer and go farther than if I do it. Still, it's up to you.

And last but certainly not least,

Thank You Everyone! It's fun helping out guys on the 'Hide and providing the best lube available. It's just one thing less to worry about.

Adding castor oil gives the lanolin/alcohol lube a real boost. It’s what I use for bullet swaging and a case lube for sizing brass.
