Dracos barrels

I’m so spoiled by my stuff from JP. I hardly look at anything else, and when I have, I’ve ended up spending money again to replace the first stuff that ended up being junk. Even my wife will tell me to buy JP if I start talking about something else for a build.

Yeah that's what I am currently running on my LR308. Just looking to try out other brands, and have heard good things about the Dracos barrels and them not getting hot at all. Just haven't seen any real world accuracy reports yet.

Several guys on here have run Dracos barrels (including myself). They can shoot pretty damn well (see one of my reviews here http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/6-5-cm-ocw-torture-test-dracos-barrel.6874518/ )

I think there can be some variability in their tolerance though. The sleeve system is REALLY cool and definitely cools barrel quickly and the cold bore shots on my rifles have been virtually one hole 3, 4, 5 shot groups.

Another member @AMGtuned has several but his were built by Teludyne Tech (inventor of the straight jacket system) and his barrels have been VERY VERY consistent. I might suggest talking with him about his experience and sending a barrel to Teludyne to have them build it for you. Slightly more money (depending on blank) but will possibly ensure better results.

He'll probably chime in later today. Good guy and lots of experience with sleeved barrels.

Your linked write up is great! My only concern would be the fliers people are mentioning, especially since I run everything suppressed. Looks like Teludyne would be the way to go.

Thank you @Subwrx300 , that's solid.

@jojotheclown, if the thermal properties of your barrel are of major concern to you, the StraightJacket barrel system is, hands down, the way to go. Major difference from SJ, to Dracos is tube size. Dracos is 30mm, whereas the SJ, a full 1.25". This gives you more medium surrounding your bore to help wick away the heat. Falkor, on their branded rifles, use a large heat sync (sp) at the breach end to help aid in heat dispersion. The SJ system sleeves all the way down the barrel, using the larger tube and more medium to remove heat. My ar15 chamber is cold. Period. Stick your finger in, thermometer, whatever your like, it's cool. Outside of the barrel is where you feel it. Only on hot days after long strings with my .300wm, have I run into mirage from it. It's rare. As far as suppressed fire, the SJ system has a fully adjustable gas block, and the heat reduction may actually (not proven fact), help decrease suppressor heat, where so much is wicked away through the barrel. I'm not too educated on suppressed fire, it will be my next venture. Bolt rifles are also available, and the system is virtually flawless there.

Sorry guys, I'm on vacation, and must have read through too fast. I did it really address the OPs point, repeatability. In my personal experience with this system; both with my own weapons, and those of others, there is little to no POI shift from cold bore, to string fire. It makes for long range days, because I do not have to worry as much about heat. During reloads, movement, lunch, anything, i am able to repeat shot placement, at any point in the course of fire

Thanks for the info! Will it fit in a 1.35" ID handgaurd, like the SLR series? I *really* don't want to have to move to something huge like a Seekins if I don't have to.

I use Aero Precision handguards, they clear fine. The barrel would fit, and as long as it's not a closed tube with no vents, you would most likely see no problem. You can PM me for Teludyne custom shop info, as it is probably against policy for me to "solicit" here. (Lots of rules being violated lately, and I like it here)
