After reading the article, I am going to go out on a limb and say that this probably has something to do with snackbars and religions of peace.
Street gangs just do NOT shoot up a school full of children and DRT themselves before first responders arrive.
Shooters were not former students or employees.
As the final strongpoints of ISIS are being wiped out in the Holy Land, their followers are setting root in more remote places like the Philippines and South America.
Would be interesting to hear eyewitness testimonies from the survivors if the shooters were yelling something about Hawaiian dessert cafes while going on their rampage.

I find it strange that they wore masks and killed themselves? I did hear about a month ago shit was so bad in Brazil that the police had sniper teams out with preauthorization to shoot targets of opportunity known or otherwise. I'm not sure that a good idea? Too much room for corruption was the first thought in my head.
I have been to many parts of Brazil on many occasions...the police there frightened me more than the vast number of poor people. It is really an interesting place but your situational awareness better be up and running.
We were generally escorted from our hotel to meetings. When we took cabs, they were only from the hotel or from our hosts. Had to be super careful wearing anything remotely valuable.

Totally agree, @Eliteuas , and the above comment holds true not just for Brazil, but a lot of countries in the world. Americans and tourists to the US literally enjoy a rare oasis in which human lives are not valued like restaurant napkins. Those "urban legend" horror stories of guys who travel to Thailand or Indonesia, only to be abducted and have their organs harvested, are not just made up adult campfire shiver tales. There is a real basis for those tales.
If I were to be traveling abroad right now, the first and foremost thing on my mind is that I am going to look out for myself, and any loved ones with me. And whether it be a gun or knife, or something else, I WILL go to any lengths to arm myself. Based on a lot of factual accounts of third-world muggings and abductions, if shit were to start feeling like they are going down, I believe I will take preemptive and overwhelming action to ensure that I live and whoever means me harm does not.
Sounds harsh, I know, but the world is a harsh place. If you want to come out at the top of this dogfight that sometimes you are not a willing participant in, you have to be the meanest, most savage, and most aggressive dog in the ring.

Salud. Thanks for sharing the photos and info. Ive not made S. America but traveled extensively in Mexico and Central America. We here often forget just how good we have it.
