    Why would you alert a wild animal, that you are hunting, to your presence? I have shot a couple deer while they were sleeping. Fuck the hunter, fuck the lion, fuck the people who are mad at the hunter, why in the fuck does everyone think they have a right to dictate to others what they should do? EGO is my guess, everyone has a little of that mo special than the next guy attitude these days.

    Well, while not what one would really call "sporting", it looks like they did stalk up pretty close to the lion without it knowing they were there. (unless it was a tame- ish preserve animal) I'm not sure I could really say this is any different than shooting a standing rabbit eating clover with a scoped rifle. That said, he should know better than to post that. The Disney types woulbe be on him even if it were charging him.....

    I have shot numerous hogs from the back and after making as close a stalk as possible. It is not about "sportsmanly conduct", it is about practicality. Hunting with a revolver means you try to get as close as necessary to make an ethical kill shot. Otherwise I risk having to track a wounded animal through dense undergrowth and if I miss entirely, there goes my dinner. And besides, hogs and boars WILL fuck someone up. So I rather much be alive and in one piece to enjoy my bacon.

    The lion hunter in this case screwed up because he took a video. The lion that he shot is ample evidence enough to prove that he had "done it". If I were him I would have just followed up by making a Hemingway-esque account of a harrowing pursuit and near fatal attack by the creature, and how my custom magnum handload out of my trusty long rifle saved the day, concluded of course, by a brief historical overview and praise of the rifle / cartridge used.

    Some folks just have no common sense, that is why they find themselves in quicksands too many fucking times. Self preservation would have been my primary aim here, and such a potentially damning video would not have been put forth.

    That being said... if I spent the money to go to Africa and get a lion... I’m really not certain I wouldn’t have done the same.

    Just maybe that’s a story you don’t tell your mates at the pub.

    As far as pissing people off with a video...good... more people need to be offended.... if it were me, ide wear its pelt around like fucking Hercules.... piss people off every where I went

You want the lion keyed in on your position and charging? “Sporting”, doesn’t mean a damn thing. What you think is sporting to the next person isn’t. Hey, you want to go after dangerous game with the odds against you, be my guest.

    It reminds me of the “F” word, which I don’t allow my kids to fucking say. You want to see me get mad start talking bullshit “fair”, and you’ll see me get mad. We don’t fucking use that word in hunting or anything else, because we are trying to prepare for actual life.

    yes....there should be an element of "sport" when it comes to hunting.....especially when it comes to trophy hunting.

    if you are putting meat on the table....then by all means hunt with a bazooka for all i care and kill that fucker by any means.

    but if you are hunting for what essentially boils down to "bragging rights".......saying" yeah i shot that fucker while he was sleeping" in the cigar lounge doesnt exactly stir up sentiments of John Patterson in Tsavo

    I think killing a creature while it sleeps is pretty slick. More so than shooting a critter from long distance.

    I also think this African safari stuff is a bunch of stupid bullshit. JMHO.

    To me a safari would be way more than that. Im not into bragging rights, and not really interested in giving the animal a fair chance to kill me either. I’ve done plenty of shit more dangerous that I don’t brag about.

    I will most surely never go myself, but I don’t begrudge anyone who has the means. There are still lions because of legal hunting and the money it provides to people with nothing who would sell the parts to Asians otherwise.

    I shoot ducks that have decoyed, and I hear tell of people baiting in hogs. What’s right for you may not be for someone else, and passing internet judgement is bullshit.

    That’s all I have to say.

    I will say there's a lot of things that I see as bullshit, that don't interest me one bit. I don't have any problems with others doing such. A night of shine and catfishing works for me, others would think it was bullshit.

    If that guy wasnt over there probably paying $100K for his experience than lions would just be something pictured in a book.

    How many time have you watched that program?
    I have seen enough episodes where the shooter ejects the round and you can clearly see the magazine is empty.
    There have been episodes where the hunter reloads his rifle.
    I love long range shooting but that shit is ridiculous because they are trying to pass it off as a one shot kill at extended range.
