So this is pretty new to the market and I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it yet.

Hate to say it but I bought some new Peterson brass in 6.5Creedmoor about 10 months ago and all the necks were too thick. Like .002-.003 too thick! I am absolutely not buying brass to have to neck turn it so I heed more caution when considering their brass now.

Looking for feedback, post it up if ya got it!

I have a new 300 Norma Mag and was waiting for Lapua brass to release in June. I called Lapua and they said they will be making them in November now. So now I'm debating buying some Peterson brass because I don't think I can wait that long.

I have tried some 300 Norma mag Peterson brass. It looks to be good quality brass. I am just starting my second firing on them, but one thing I did notice was when I went to seat the primers when it was new brass, some primer pockets were allot looser than other ones. I am not sure how that will pan out after 5 or 6 firings, but I will see how long they hold up.

The peterson is nice stuff. It has one glaring issue though. It’s extraordinarily short in headspace. About .016-.018 shorter than a go-gauge. Peterson says it’s within saami spec, so they elected not to change it this last batch. Lapua and Norma brand brass is .004-.006 shorter than a go gauge. As much as I want to use it because it’s very strong and uniform, I think the headspace is unacceptable.

Wow. Really? That's ridiculous. I'm sure as hell not going to fire-form process that just to get it into spec. I guess Norma brass again it is. I've heard Lapua isn't going to ship another run of brass until late summer. Berger is evidently going to offer loaded ammunition on Lapua brass but that's an expensive venture just to get brass out of it too.

Then im not buying...its off spec on web area and bit too short from mil spec..i sold couple boxes.i thought Peterson were going to fix the issue on second batch..i got 200 lapua brass...i guess ill just play conserving game

My Peterson 300 norma brass was only a few thousandths short of a fire formed load. I compared it after reading about this a while back and it wasn't any different then any other cartridges I've loaded for. I even compared it to some other once fired brass out of a friends 300 norma rifle and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Now the case head area is .003" small if I remember correctly but was under the impression that it doesn't really matter unless you are having custom made dies.

Do you notice any appreciable expansion near the web? Something that might give a false indication of a pending case-head separation perhaps?

No, everything looks good. I have only shot them all one time so I can't say how they will hold up over time but I plan on buying more. Only downside to the Peterson is I had to neck turn because they were thicker than norma case necks. I fired a few for pressure and found out that it measured the same as a loaded round. I turned them to have .004" neck clearance. Something to keep in mind for those going to Peterson. I think they measured .0175-.018" and norma was .015-.0155"

Excellent info. I think I might just order a small count to try out, just to see how it handles. Still got an eye out for the Lapua (other than the backorders I have out).

The new batch is .002 larger in diameter at the base to address complaints. I thought it was totally inconsequential myself. The headspace is a deal breaker for me.

On the headspace, I checked two lots of virgin brass against two separate Go gauges, and two in spec rifles.
