The reason we have freedom of religion in this country still is because no one specific group (including Atheists as I count them as a religion as well) has gotten enough of the population under their specific brand to get enough votes to put them firmly in power. And while all the various brands would like that to be them, they also work twice as hard to make sure it's not anyone else either.
It is interesting however that the map shown shows at least 8% of both France and Sweden is Muslim, which probably means at least 10% actually. I wonder at what percentage do they start becoming a formidable political force? 20%? 25%? I would think they would take control of the government long before reaching the 50% mark due to everybody else not getting up off their rear ends to vote.

So I visited Notre Dam back in the late 2000s. You could literally feel the history. The thousands of people who have trodden those floors, sat in those seats (although I'm sure they replace the benches), but to look at the same cathedral hall as thousands before me was amazing. The connection to human history is unlike any other outside of visiting the Louvre or going to the Colosseum. It's sad that a piece of human history has been turned to ash but we shall rebuild. Maybe a bigger, taller, grander Notre Dam made of steel, stone, diamond to break an 850 year old record. Fashion a wooden cross out of the remnants of what's left.

When you experience these places you marvel at what was accomplished with no electricity, hydraulics, compressed air, nothing but blood and sweat and determination.
I wonder how many stone masons there are on the planet that could do this kind of work now? Probably less then what worked on this single building.
