I have a Howa 1500 HCR in .308, which currently has about 600 rounds through it. Being as this is my first "precision rifle" i have never shot this many rounds through a bolt action before. Earlier, i had the rifle disassembled to adjust the trigger, and noticed some "strange" wear on the bolt and reciever camming surfaces. The bolt is even slightly mushroomed. My questions are

#1. Is this "normal" wear for a bolt action? Could it be bad heat treat or loose tolerances?

#2. If it is normal, at what point does the wear get so bad it affects primary extraction? What is the "lifespan"?

Those are normal..it could wear 005 on those point and still wont affect perfomance..most of those wears are happening when start engaging not when bolt is in lock position..lugs,raceway and caming are mechanisims
