Trump signs order to withdraw from the UN Small Arms Treaty !!!

now he needs to reverse his bullshit bump stock order and cut teh shit with Lindsey and the red flag laws, get out of the UN all together, shut down the ATF, repeal and unsign the NFA, and I might vote for him..

You must have been a real holiday parade pisser when you were a kid.

"Well, it's nice, but it isn't exactly what I wanted."

Hi,

BUT yet he ok with the trampling himself (Aka bumpstock ban)? He ok with allowing domestic bureaucrats to trample on it (Aka Red Flag Laws, etc)?

Breadcrumbs when we need the entire loaf :)

Sincerely,
Theis

THEIS, You were the first to say what I knew was going to be said. I don't necessarily disgaree with you, but......it is a start. It is a damn good start. If Hillary had won, this never would have happened, it would have been much worse.

Personally, I'm very grateful for this. It's incremental, but I'm grateful nevertheless.

Same here. Trying to do everything all at once, we might see the occurence of the real struggle that we might yet avoid.

AJ, you might only get one 'ask' so what else do we need to put in there before we submit the request?

Well VeerG its my version of the art of the deal,,, if I dont win I will implode the whole fucking thing... I am American and that is my right.

Even Trump begrudgingly recognizes the need for compromise.

I'm not big on compromise. I understand compromise. Sometimes compromise is the right answer, but oftentimes compromise is the equivalent of defeat, and I don't like being defeated.

When you swear that oath, you either stand up for the Constitution - all of it - all the time - or you're an enemy of the Republic. Perhaps one of the domestic variety, but an enemy nonetheless.

Empty gesture for realy dumb fucks ,US never ratified the treaty and is not obliged by it in any way , the threaty has no effect on what goes on in US in regards to firearms , it was meant to prevent illicit arms flow into warzones like Syria where everyone and their uncle was arming their pet terrorists . Ass kissing with empty gestures is the name of the game. here

Still waiting for far more relevant ITAR to be lossened.

TC we need to quit saying it could be worse and start saying we'll accept only better.

While I agree with some of what you say, I think 'bump stocks' are just an attempt to circumvent the law prohibiting current automatic weapon sales...And a poor, silly attempt at that...But, we all are entitled to our opinions and like the old saying goes, we all have them...:)

a law that shouldn't exist,,, we should all have full on m60's if we want, so fuck the law, the law doesn't matter anymore anyway so dont come preaching,,, when them muther fuckers arrest the cunt and jail her ass then we can talk about the rule of fucking law.

you sound like a life member of the NRA btw,, denying other peoples rights because you dont think they need that kind of weapon,,, you are a cancer that is typical of the NRA.... other than that you seem like a nice guy... ;)

Hi,

For those that think this is anything more than smoke and mirrors; let me ask you this.

Before Trump signed this today...

Were you more concerned that the UN was going to actually come and take your firearms away or more concerned your OWN Government was going "legislate" them away?

Sincerely,
Theis

Fair question. There was no immediate danger of the UN doing anything and this was largely symbolic. A symbolic gesture of FUCK YOU to the UN is more than enough to make me happy. If pussy hat fags cry themselves to sleep tonight because Trump made a symbolic gesture to the weak idiots across the pond while speaking at an NRA convention, then the world is a little bit better today.

THEIS........very true. BUT, it is not a step in the WRONG direction......which is why I am optimistic. (y)(y)(y)

Would I like to deal in absolutes ? Yes, absolutely! But, that is not the way of the world these days. In fact, to argue points to an absolute nature usually results in a loss. Remember, the relative intelligence level of the electorate these days.

I guess you only need partial access to all your constitutional rights... Who gives a f&@$ about bumpstocks. I don’t want ANY govt bureaucrat deciding to limit my rights! If you don’t care much about the 2A why bother expressing your 1A?

the UN needs to be deported from my country

While we should tell them to pound sand when they get stupid ideas, like;
- passing resolutions to be backed up with American blood because most are incapable of protecting themselves,
- stocking the Human Rights Council with some of the most despotic reprobates the world can find,
- having a primary objective of screwing the US, but expecting us to pick up the Lion's share of the tab,
- yada, yada, yada - I could go on forever.

We should remain in the UN and keep it in NY. Having the diplomatic hub of the world on US soil has got to be an intelligence gold mine.

That fine if you are a weak ass country who needs help , I am american and dont need them, 3/4 of our history dictates that we should not belong to or even allow anyone other than oone embassy per foreign country in our country... Globalism is unAmerican,,, foreign entanglements are a definable no no,,, handed down from the man himself, GW.

If the UN burned to the ground with all the representatives in it I would hope no fire fighters risk breaking a sweat putting that fire out.

Put that fucking thing in Kabul and get the hell out of it.

Never read the treaty , but I suppose it’s part of the UNs philosophy of disarming civilian populations
worldwide . Illusion or not , 3 D chess or not , it seems like a step on the right path from an outside of
USA perspective .

The "Constitution" consists of the document itself AND, whether we like it or not, CASE LAW...As such it has been modified and interpreted by courts up to and including the SCOTUS...Like it or not, case law further defines the Constitution. To ignore such is to ignore reality...JMHO In order to get Justice Kennedy's 'vote' Scalia had to accept 'language' which weakened the Heller decision, leaving 'holes' which anti-gunners have been driving trucks through...(writing crazy anti-gun legislation which would most likely be determined unconstitutional by a conservative SCOTUS). If Trump accomplishes nothing else, placing 1 or 2 'originalists' on the court, he will be remembered for that...JMHO

The bumpstock ban was nothing legal as no legislation was passed. Not even an Executive Order, just the stroke of the pen of a simple corrupt non elected official of the ATF. How does case law have anything to do with that?
The constitution and our Bill of Rights are not “living documents” to be adjusted at the whim of elected and appointed officials. There is a process to amend the Bill of Rights and none of the cowards even have the spine to mention that process.... just because you have no use for bump stocks (and neither do I) doesn’t make it legal. We must protest these types of actions as the Govt is constantly pushing to limit and infringe our rights. It is my firm belief that the only thing keeping the 1A in place at this moment is the 2A
