T3 CTR vs T3 CTRx. Is the difference appreciable?

I’m looking to buy. Really interested in a .308 but will eventually be a switch barrel. I’m planning on dropping the action into a KRG Bravo ASAP.

So the changes in the stock are not an issue. But the ejection port on the CTRx has been altered, maybe a bolt shroud altered or added (I’m not sure), and some extra holes tapped for rail mounting.

There’s a CTR on the board here. Looks to be a shooter. I can buy a new CTRx for $837. Are the changes worth the money?

It's a personal thing. I have both, and the smaller ejection port is annoyance, but not a show stopper. All CTR's came drilled and tapped for a rail (IIRC, some of the early standard T-3 rifles just had the dovetail, and no holes for a pic rail; pretty sure they all have them now). As to the bold shroud, again, a personal preference sort of thing. Metal replacement shrouds can be had for a not a lot of coin if needed or desired.

If the cost difference is just $100 or $150, I'd opt for the T-3X CTR personally. But, it really is going to be driven by your finances and whether you want to inherit any of the previous owner's problems/wear that they had.

So it can still be single loaded from the ejection port, it’s just smaller.

Correct. The smaller port just gets annoying when trying to fish out a spent piece of brass (especially if your scope turrets are too low; the brass will bounce back into the ejection port). Higher rings resolves this.
