That's true lol. I'm hoping my barrel gets here before the crops are too tall to shoot.

nice. He must be all caught up again. less than 8 week turnaround aint too shabby

There were a couple of additional factors that may have delayed my barrel. First, when I talked to him and placed my order, he was just getting back to work after the birth of his child, so I'm sure he had some other orders come in before mine that he got caught up on. Second, I don't know if he had my barrel in stock or had to wait on K&P, since 7 twist 25 Cal barrels aren't too common. This is just a hunch, but I'm thinking if he wasn't getting caught up and had a barrel in hand, it would've been done a couple of weeks sooner.

The good news is Fedex tracking says my barrel will arrive tomorrow. Utah to Colorado in 24 hours? I'll take it! Bad news is I don't think I'll get to shoot it until next week.

I always close the bolt before torquing simply for consistency. While I doubt I would notice a difference by torquing with no bolt, I have more confidence doing it the same way every single time.

Also patiently waiting for a ES Tactical notification. Just pretending I forgot about the order isn't working.

Got mine in today and really like them. Cant wait to get to the range now. It would have to be raining. Also this guy is great to work with and has fast shipping.

Single shot adapter for your .223 conversion? Sure, I can do that. Same as before. I'll give out the STL for free or if you dont have a printer, I can make you one for cheap.

Got

My new 25 Creedmoor barrel arrived yesterday. I wish I could get to the range, but that'll have to wait until next week. The seamless thread protector was completely unexpected, but very welcome! If it shoots as well as Eric's craftsmanship, I will no doubt have a shooter!

Does anyone know if you can run an A1 bolt and barrel in a gen one chassis?
Yes you can. Closing the bolt before torquing down the barrel is necessary as the A1 barrel extension is different than the “pin” style in the gen 1. But they will work.

Does it zero out ok at 100 yds with the Zero MOA base? How much elevation do you have left?
Yes it does and it leaves me around 15 Mils on the elevation. With a basic load of 43 gs of VV160 behind 130 grs. Bergers ( the first projos I found in the drawer the night before) I got to 1100yds with 10 Mils so for the time being I can live with that. )

Hey guys! We are finally about caught back up. Thank you for having patients with us. I had a son born early that spent some time in the hospital and it put us behind. Everything is good to go now, other than deciding what his first rifle should be....
So glad to here that your son is doing well!! Congratulations! We all know the answer to your question...... Desert Tech of course! =0)

Also, there is a great blowout sale on the SRSA1 chassis right now with one of our barrels.

Your right about that @Tyler Kemp
I’ve gone through 2 short action mags trying to smooth out the feed lips so the mag will stop scoring the bullet while loading. The first one I opened up too much and smoothed the lips so much that rounds would just pop right back out when loaded.
The next worked much better, but I have consistency issues now with feeding.
I’m surprised there’s no aftermarket polymer mags for our guns

I was just thinking the same thing. A polymer mag would be great. Maybe Magpul will make one LOL
I will second that! My issues with these mags in my SRSA2 drove me crazy until someone on this forum told me about the washer trick.

Washer truck? Do tell

My SRSA2 wouldn’t drop magazines free. Ultimately, I determined that this was because a got a batch of mags that was slightly out of spec. But I was able to rectify the issue by inserting a small washer between the stock panel and the action at one of the screw points. The whole process was detailed a few pages back in this thread!

and its not specific to the A2. My A1 had the same issue

For years, I've wondered if it's possible to engineer a follower that would allow a single feed, double stack. I know it would be a challenge, given the distance between the action and the magwell

Congrats Eric. I'm looking forward to getting the barrel, I seen the tracking number yesterday and was excited.

I'm really wanting a srs but I have a couple questions that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on,
1- is there a mod to single feed on an empty mag
2 - are there any issues with firing pin size like there is with post14 AI
3 - would running a longer barrel (26"+) with a covert handguard be silly

1 - Already answered (MKmaching)
2 - None that I've ever heard or experienced. (AI's firing pin was fixed in 2015. Post14 refers to the buttstock/barrel quick change)
3 - Absolutely not, I actually like the way it balances with a longer barrel

Thanks for the replies! I was all set to pull the trigger on an A2 but with ES tactical's sale on the A1 I'm second guessing getting the A2

I'm running a 22" .308 and 26" 6.5cr with the A2 Covert and I don't see a use for the longer handguard since there's nothing I'd stick that far out. With the 22" barrel, an Atlas folds forward to just before the muzzle on the Covert handgurad so I wouldn't move it up any farther forward, nor am I sticking any lights or lasers on a bolt gun.

The only thing I could see is with some MLOK covers (or rail covers on the A1) you could potentially help with mirage from the barrel.

The mirage is a good point, is it any more noticeable with your 26" barrel than any of your other guns?

I use Tapeking Gaffers tape. Good for about 230 degrees and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. And it’s matte black. Not recommended for gas barrels

After years of waiting, I've finally joined the DT group. Covert A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor.View attachment 7083941
Awesome paint job. Congrats!

Separately, I shot some Berger ammo 300 win mag with the 215 hybrid bullets out of my DT yesterday (SAC conversion kit — 1:8 twist Bartlein) and OMG did it perform. Like a laser at 1000 in somewhat annoying winds. Didn’t have an opportunity to take it out further, but will try a mile one of these days.

Washer trick was page 217, Post 10,834.

Hey, is anyone running the 24” 6.5 Creed hunting profile barrel? What’s the weight of that barrel?
Otherwise, what is the lightest barrel you own? That’s likely going to be a 16” 308, but what’s the weight?

That can’t be right. According to your Proof photo above, a Proof 264 caliber 26” weighs 4lb 6 oz. I just weighed my factory 260 barrel, 26”, fluted, with thread protector and it weighs 4 lb 10 oz. so a Proof barrel only weighs 4 oz (ounces) less than a factory fluted steel barrel?

If you look at the 308 barrel is also weights less than the 223.

Same profile, different diameter hole in the middle of the barrel. Larger calibers weigh less, in the same profile and length.

Proof carbon fiber barrels are always heavy contours. While they may be light for contour they are never actually light weight regardless of platform.

This will be my first proof, but this is Emmy understanding, and was my goal for the 300 PRC. I may try to smack and aoudad in west TX with it!
