You are technically correct. I have yet to see the reason for his discharge, let alone the category. I think most are assuming he was let go for mental illness. If that is the case he would have been eligible for VA care. I've heard no mention of him receiving such care. Until information about his discharge comes to light, I stand by my assertion."What is a Veteran? There have been cases where individuals have been kicked out of basic and received a discharge other than dishonorable and have successfully claimed veteran status.
Edit, if he was discharged for mental health reasons, or physical injuries, I'll concede the point.
