DIY Rear Bags from old uniforms

I sewed up a couple rear bags from an old duty uniform. For one bag I used walnut tumbling media and the other is airsoft BBs. They work really well. Dependent on what part you cut, you can get a pocket which is nice for a data card or dope records.

How heavy are they pal? I'm specially interested in the weight difference due to different media. They look awesome, btw!

Thanks you, I appreciate it! I will see if I can get a scale that'll read the weight. One doesn't go that low and the other doesn't go that high haha.

Way back when I used to make woodland camo covers for the original black Camelback. I see the large pockets to put on them. I'll have to dig one out.

I never thought of airsoft bb's to fill with.

I'm not sure. The last one I just made, I used Polyfill from michaels. I think this is the best fill I've used so far.

I like using a sock filled with the airsoft bbs. It isn't very big, but easily adjustable for quick on the fly type shooting. (Use a clean sock, it will smell better)

Back in the day I ran the trusty sock and rice combo! Haha

I used the cargo pocket from a set of my multicam ones. They are the flight uniforms so the pockets zip up. No need for seeing. Just cut the pocket out and there you go.

the one we got has 3 section to it we removed one section allowing the contraption to start lower about an inch at the lowest setting .
we remove the top adjustment piece and reattach the middle section to the top plate . I Add wood ( soon to be replaced by Teflon strips) with a slot in the middle to allow the bag rider to slide in like a bench rest but for the rear and it works pretty well for me so far . The adjustment is very fine . so making adjustments is pretty simple just turn the wheel and the plate goes up or down in tiny increments . There are pro's and cons to them but for 9.99 not the one shown in the link they work pretty nice so far but they are not perfect yet still a work in progress . the only problem I had with bags was i was either too low or too high the bag was either too soft to add support or too hard not allowing up or down movement at the ranges I was shooting at and 9 wrong bags and hundreds of dollars later I still have no bag that's just the right height and give , I started to make my own rear bag in cloth so this was my solution and so far it works pretty good for me .

The bag on the left is a NVG pouch with molle straps on the back and the green on the right is a sea bag that I glued and used #8 braided fishing line as thread. Both filled with that’s plastic poly pellets from amazon.

The left bag weighs ~ 4.5 lbs right is ~ 7 lbs.
