Looking for feedback on this handgun. I have a Gen 4 19 with RMR, and I’m looking for another handgun equally as reliable.

I havent had any experience with the 509 but I've heard internally its almost the same as a fns. I have a fns9 and absolutely love it, I've run roughly 2750 rounds thru mine since January without a single hiccup yet.

I've shot the 509. Not a lot. With the APEX trigger kit its the nicest striker fired pistol I've ever shot. They just announced the 509 MID with the optics mounting system. I'm pretty excited about that.

When it comes to handguns I usually just ask "why not glock?" So...why not add another glock such as a Gen 5 Model 45 or 19x? Gen 5's have great triggers and are as solid as they get.

If you just want variety then any of the modern pistols from your big manufactures should be fine. I did see some scuttlebutt about the 509 having striker issues, they were shearing off the ends. So you may want to dig into that as it was a big turn off for me.

Take my advise with a grain of salt. I recently sold off every single non glock handgun (HK, Ruger, S&W, SIG) and went full Glock.

That’s my only problem with Glock. They are boringly reliable lol. Sometimes I just like to try new things; therefore, that’s how the idea of the 509 came about.

Maybe another one is all that’s needed.

Saying "why not Glock" is like saying "I'm hungry" and driving to Mickey D's each and every time for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. There are other possibilities.

History tells us FN has not made a pistol worth a shit since the hi-power. Why take another gamble on a pistol that will be discontinued in 2 years with no parts availability.

Want something as good or better than Glock, get a VP9. That's the only other hard use combat pistol worth owning unless you want hammer fired, then a Wilson or EL 92g would be a solid choice.
