Ist that ironic how the "rulers" were just talking about this not long ago.....and low and behold the shooter used this "loophole"
its only a matter of time until all transfers are through FFL's
just wait until reloading is a thing of the past
if the anti gunners had a clue reloading would be gone immediately
i can buy pounds and pounds of powder unchecked
It is always about the money. They got rid of private sales in NJ a couple of years ago.
Had zero impact on crime.
Only thing accomplished was adding $15 for a NICS check and $25 transfer fee to every sale.

You must have forgotten, its not about stopping any crimes.Seems like the common man knows that laws do not stop crimes, to bad the sheep can't seem to grasp that simple concept.
Private transfers arent going anywhere.
Background checks on private sales is common in many states. Yeah its annoying and an inconvenience but you can still do it.
Really Trump should be thinking about trying to barter for something gun owners actually want like reciprocity, constitutional carry, and hearing protection aka supressors or whatever.
I'd trade background checks on private sales for reciprocity and repeal of NFA.Private transfers arent going anywhere.

Yeah, just saying if were going to get screwed at least give us the reach around so we get something out of it.
Except as has been PROVEN with this president and this set of Republicans with the whole Bump Stock confiscation without compensation, and totally refusing to advance the hearing protection act, we will wind up getting NOTHING and our enemies (as well as the enemies of Trump and the Republicans) will get another win.
Trump and the Republicans are really that STUPID
I guess we'll see how it goes, but it looks like Trump is heading for a 1 term presidency.
I probably won't vote for him or the republicans if they do another big gun control BS and give us nothing.
Might as well get some political mileage out of it & show what happens to folks that backstab the folks that put them in power.
I agree, but I will still vote for Trump as ALL of the alternatives are worse.
I'm not totally sure of it.
We had 8 years of a full on Communist leaning left wing president who pretty much got zero done on gun control & actually opened up bump stocks and pistol braces.
Our freedoms might actually be safer if the Republicans just have a slim majority in the senate and nothing else and feel rather desperate to stay in the club house. At least then they might take a break from the backstabbing.
I agree mostly. What we all hope for is mostly wishful thinking. I doubt we have many more wins in our column before the Boogaloo.Except as has been PROVEN with this president and this set of Republicans with the whole Bump Stock confiscation without compensation, and totally refusing to advance the hearing protection act, we will wind up getting NOTHING and our enemies (as well as the enemies of Trump and the Republicans) will get another win.

Most of us already have CHLs or ATF tax stamps. We are all already on listsHere is why your barter quote is ill informed. The reason that many folks at the top on the left want universal background checks is because it creates a de facto registration system. The only reason it doesn’t do so now is because the presence of private sales prevents the records from being considered accurate since you might have sold those guns to someone else.
Did you know that when you fill out a 4473 it must be retained by the FFL for 20 years or until cessation of business and then must be turned over to the ATF to be kept IN PERPETUITY. these forms contain make, model, serial number, and your DL number, address, name, social security number, physical description, etc.
That IS registration.
You sure that it had no impact on crime? They got rid of private sales in NJ a couple of years ago.

Been gone for awhile now in WA State.
I am surprised more states haven’t jumped on the bandwagon.
This is one of the only laws that I think needs to be in place.
Is it a pita for us law abiding citizens, yes. But it does help keep firearms out of people’s hands that have failed background checks.
I was upset when it became law here in WA, but after thinking on it, I’m ok with the inconvenience IF it HELPS keep firearms away from people who shouldn’t have them.

I agree completely, but feel he could care less about any of that, that's why he isn't trying to bargain for any of it.Private transfers arent going anywhere.

Totally agree that nothing is going to be perfect. Criminals are going to get guns, period!
But the mentally unstable? Whatever helps keep their fingers off triggers, I’m all for it. This is of course just my humble opinion.
Its a paper file buried in a filing cabinet in the basement. Ever tried to track down proof you sold a firearm years later? Not so easy.
Whatever helps keep their fingers off triggers AND PRESERVES OUR LIBERTY, I'm all for it.

Anyone who is an advocate for any type or regulation, control, or tracking is an absolute idiot and an enemy of Freedom and Society.
Simply because, any "law" will ONLY be adhered to, recognized, or even noticed by LAW ABIDING CITIZENS. And that is the problem. Criminals DON'T FOLLOW/ADHERE TO/RESPECT the law. So they are going to do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want, with complete disregard, disdain, disrespect, and disinterest in/for any type of control or civility in any way.
The ONLY thing a law is going to do, is hamper a law abiding citizen. They are already NOT the problem to begin with, and yet you want to hamper them more, "for the good of the children"?????????
In what universe is this a good idea? I mean seriously, look to ANY of the other countries that have taken such measures already, and see if ANY of them have actually done any good. I mean 'historically',,,, has it actually worked? NO.
Not once,
Not ever,
Not anywhere.
Oh, but maybe, just maybe,,,, you are so delusional that "this time" it will work, because YOU say it so, and do so with a different voice, or use a different word, and then you'll change the world and direction of human development.
Yeah, I thought not. Please people, wake up, shake the sand out of your head and see the problem for what it truly is. I can't believe I had to say this, on this site.
That seems common. It seems that every time gun control is brought up in Congress, we have a mass shooting. Hmmm...

Since those that want new gun laws know very little about anything related to the subject, i propose a new law that states:
Anyone with a violent felony or misdemeanor, can not purchase a firearm.
All full automatic weapons are illegal unless possessed by an authorized person.
All sales between private individuals of differing states are required to process through an ATF licensed vendor and are subject to a NICS background check.
They'll be satisfied knowing SOMETHING was done to satiate their concerns/fears.
Or how about something on your government issued photo identification that indicates you are unable to own a firearm, like an organ donor but different. All photo identification might have to be updated more frequently, but the infringed usually have their identification confiscated at the time of their arrest. The "mentally questionable persons" are still a tangent that will be reliant upon those within their daily lives.
This process could also be subjected to a vouch by reference.
