What a "Buyback" looks like

To those referring to the gun owners of Australia and new Zealand as cowards or sheep for obeying the laws imposed upon them, perhaps some facts can demonstrate that your vitriol is misplaced.

As a law abiding gun owner living in Australia, a country where gun banning has already happened and is steadily increasing, I feel the need to point out that we do not have the protections you enjoy in the US.

We only have 5 very basic rights in our constitution:

These are the right to vote (Section 41), protection against acquisition of property on unjust terms (Section 51 (xxxi)), the right to a trial by jury (Section 80), freedom of religion (Section 116) and prohibition of discrimination on the basis of State of residency (Section 117).

That's it.

It should be kept in mind that a people can't give up a right they never had in the first place.

Gun owners in Australia are a minority of the population, with the number of households owning at least one firearm declining by 75% in the last 30 yrs.

The only alternative that currently law abiding firearm owners have in such a system is mass disobedience, which would render them criminals under that system, and give the gun banners the opportunity to take those few we are allowed to have.

Ridiculing those of us born into a system we have no power to change, due to the way that system works may give a sense of superiority, but believe me, our personal outrage at our situation far outweighs your disdain.

Well spoken and much respect.

As an aside, I have spent time all over your wonderful continent and look forward to going back. Except Alice Springs. You can keep that. And the flies.
I like Manly Beach though. Bondi is not bad either. Even Perth and Darwin. But keep Alice Springs. Please.

In the meantime, I see Toohey's no longer sells their red bitters. Please send me a case of XXXX Gold expeditiously.

Thank you!

Thank you for your understanding, the alternative to following the rule of law is......well, Somalia.

Alice Springs, yeah boiling hot and a hundred gazillion flies is an acquired taste alright.

Have to disagree with you on the XXXX though, we have a saying in the southern states that they called it XXXX because they weren't allowed to put the word shit on the can, but then I'm a southerner and a whiskey drinker so I'm a bit biased:LOL:

Welcome back any time, my friend;)

Well thank you, but I couldn't just ask for something as ubiquitous as VB, now could I? Yes, XXXX is weak like Coors Light here, but I do enjoy me some Toohey's.

And if you ever manage to make it to us Yanks, I would be happy to open my whiskey bar to you.
And yes, I have more than a few choices ?

On edit, I don't know where you are obviously, but have been as far south as Canberra. Still have an en ex g-friend from Tassie that's in Melbourne now. Miss her much. Her big tits more so. ?

If those folks need somewhere to ship all those dangerous firearms, I'd be happy to remove them from their country for a small fee. Mainly travel, transport, and customs agreements. I'll work everything else out beyond that.

Mate, I'd give my left nut to get a proper look at the US, I was over there in the early 80s and only for 2 weeks and mostly taken up with work commitments, and all of it in Los Angeles but I loved it.

The generosity and friendliness of those I met made a lasting impression on me.

Who knows, maybe one day??
