I just got back from a Mulie hunt where we were hiking 5-10 miles/day. I thought my rifle was light enough, but it was definitely weighing me down. Im heading back out in 8-12 weeks for an elk hunt and that is going to make 5-10 miles look like a morning stroll so I want to shave off a few pounds from my rifle. Biggest chunk would be through a lighter stock. I like the EH1 (bare bones model - non adjustable, no folder, no mini chassis).

I sent Altus an email asking if they are scheudled to receive any time soon, but is anyone aware of anyone else that may have one in stock?

    700 short action footprint
    m5 DBM
    Right Hand

    thanks for any help

Man I'm so jealous! I'd be so much more keen on hunting if I could get that kind of exercise every hunt. What altitude?
altitude is not bad - 4000-6000 ft. We hunt some fairly popular public land, so its more about getting off the beaten path and away from traffic. But some hills (small mountain??) get very steep and require a bear crawl, shale rock makes for some unsteady footing, so that 12lb rifle that normally feels fine, so getting in the way more than I anticipated. Getting it to 8-9 would help immensely.

But yea, its nice knowing at the end of the day, I can eat pretty much whatever I want since I burned more than I can eat. Partook in a bagel for the first time in almost 2 years on the mulie hunt haha.

Last time I was looking I put a WTB add in the PX. I was surprised to receive several responses because the EH1 seems to be hard to find sometimes. The mini chassis EH1 doesn't weigh much more than the no chassis version with the DBM.

Look at AG Composites. I got mine 6 weeks after ordering. No it’s not a Manners and it needs work in the pillar area... but it’s close.
I have 6 Manners and I love them, always have great customer service any time I’ve had an issue but I just can’t justify waiting 5 or 6 months on a rifle stock anymore.

I ended up finding a manners, but speaking of AG, my backup plan was ordering a Mesa Altitude stock. Made by AG

I have a couple of the EH1 stocks and I love them. Grizzly Machine usually keep some SA in stock, they usually are a solid color thought if that matters. Recoil Addiction is another place that usually has them in stock and in good colors. In my experience, the SA is 1,000,000% easier to find than a LA. Good luck
