I have 4-5000 lake city once fired cases and am looking to start up precision load for a spr type rifle. I bought the cases prepped (sized, trimmed and swaged) my question is for you guys should I just keep that brass for my shorty red dot type rifles or can I prep it into a good foundation for my precision autoloader? Should I start with a higher quality? Honestly I kinda have a problembuying lapua brass for it to get beat to hell and throw everywhere in that rifle.

Lots of people like lake city. I would do ab it of a measuring and sorting to find a few hundred cases that are all closely matched to one another and run a smaller lot if youre after the most precision.

Just run it. I've loaded bulk PMC brass, LC, and had several 1/2 moa loads off a Dillon 550. Around 24 gr of 8208 and 77 smk has been good for me. That powder flows great on Dillon.

After you fireform the brass you will likely see improvement. If you bought it already sized, it's likely oversized for your needs to ensure it will fit in everyone's chamber.

I think you’re right. I’ll fire form and then measure headspace one more time. How far do you bump your shoulder for an ar type rifle?

I bump shoulders 3-4 thou and anneal as needed, every 3-4 firings perhaps. You will start to feel varying pressure when seating bullets after several firings. That's your que.
