I have the Savage 110 Storm and i picked up a set of scope bases that screw directly into the top.

One of the bases is taller than the other.

Noob question, but which should be up front (toward the end of the barrel), the short one or the tall one?

    Thanks!

Take a good look at the receiver both front and back and you will see the answer.

I've taken a few good looks so far and came to two different thought processes.

The first is that the scope follows a flat/horizontal plane when the barrel cants.
The second is that the scope follows the plane of the barrel.

Both might work but would require very different zeroing patterns :p

All I have ever used is one piece bases on the few savage rifles I have owned but if you have a 12" straight edge set the bases on the action and lay the straight edge across them.
Any misalignment will be immediately noticeable, just going off of memory the thicker base would be the rear.

Ok great. That helped. Looks like I don’t need/shouldn’t use the different height bases on this rifle.

    thanks so much!

Wait a minute did savage go full retard and start naming the short actions with three numbers ?

From what i can tell, yes. 110 or 10 doesn't any longer mean long action or short action, respectively.

"For 2018 Savage Arms decided to make a major change to their bolt-action centerfire rifle lineup by renaming several models using the original "110" nomenclature. For the past twenty years Savage has used a two or three digit model numbering systemto differentiate between short-action (two digit) and long-action (three digit) rifles. Prior to 1998 however, all Savage rifles based on the 110 action design were designated with a three digit model number. As you can imagine this has created a lot of confusion for Savage enthusiasts and owners - especially those who aren't fully educated on the complete 60 year history of the 110 design. For those not in the know, you can rest assured that Savage is still making short-actions for rifles chambered in short-action cartridges, even if it has "110" in the model name." -- Source

Well surely that won't cause any confusion with the aftermarket parts from vendors not up to speed. ?

Not at all /s Took me forever to find the right base for this thing because of 10/110/SA/LA/Flat/Rounded/Etc. :ROFLMAO:

Looking online for different parts has been a hassle. Maybe worth it, though, this thing shoots super well now!
