Good to know about the BassPro special, but going to stick with my HMR Pro in 6 Creed
Was intended for those who might not have the extra $500 laying around, or as it was in my case when you can't find an HMR Pro because at the time it wasn't available for shipping yet There have been a few supply bottlenecks since. In any case accuracy is the same as my range buddies' HMR Pros have proven, just the stainless, premier action, provided sample target, cerakote and TriggerTech Primary are the difference and I have cerakoted mine since and upgraded to a TriggerTech 700 Special.

Agree, the Pro was difficult to find initially. If I’d been looking for 6.5 at the time the option for a 24 inch HMR would have sealed the deal for me... No attempt here to disparage in anyway and even came real close to pulling trigger on standard length barrel HMR.

B-14 Ridge. 6.5, Backcountry cross slot rings and 5-25 Mark 5 TMR.

Darn. Would’ve bought the bass pro special if I knew. Oh well, now I have to buy another gun to satisfy my dissatisfaction.
I don't believe the 2" difference is all that noteworthy to be dissatisfied with the 22" HMR over. I've seen Premier HMR Pro, B-14 HMR 24", and B-14 HMR 22" all in 6.5 Creedmoor shot by decent shooters and the difference was more in the type of ammo, or what kind of loads were being shot than that there was a remarkable difference based on barrel lengths. I don't think I'd get rid of my rig and hundreds of greenbacks just to add 2" and still be right there with the rest. Before I get lectured by someone, I know the ballistics, FPS, bullet drop, etc. I am talking about results, plain and simple. Even when you fire a rifle with the same load you still need to get a mean of the average of several chronographed shots either via chronometer, or RADAR because of fluctuation in results; and if you are that scientifically obsessed than it might be time for a full blown custom benchrest rifle that approaches the weight of my truck. However, if you are just a regular shooter like most of us than I really don't think the 2", though preferable should be enough to haunt you in your dreams and cause enough discomfort to necessitate a wallet-ectomy worth another $1,000. Just my two cents worth, and since it is your money and your rifle, you can either take it, or tell me to 'keep the change", I'm fine either way. I just hate to see someone doubt their rifle over something I've seen not to make much difference in target results over the last year.

I got a set of the BT1517 screws and used them with the BT17 on my HMR. Remounting the sling studs really doesn't work because one of them has to go in order for the bipod to attach. If you still want to attach a sling just use the QD flush cups on either side, better solution anyway because that way the mag doesn't poke you into your shoulder when carrying.
Perfect thank you.

I know, I was kinda kidding. Just making an excuse, or at least that’s what I’m gonna tell my wife. Maybe she’ll feel bad and let me make another gun purchase (the ones she knows about ha).

Although I do love more velocity, I won’t lose any sleep over it. Got a killer deal on the one I got coming, and it’s not for competition or anything so I can care less. Like you said, as long as it shoots well. And from what I’ve seen/heard, they can, with the right loads.

I try to alternate each year, a rifle, or build one year and a scope the next, so far my wife is fine with it. My HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor likes the Federal Gold Medal Match Berger 130gr. best.

Hmm thought HMRs were 22” barrel. Got one on the way arriving next week

Scheels and Bass Pro/Cabelas had an exclusive run of standard HMR rifles in different barrel lengths than standard. This is a Scheels exclusive grey stock, 24" 6.5 Creed. I don't think the extra 2" makes much difference for my application but I liked the color and my old man works at Scheels. ?

Wish I would have known. Oh well. Not a big deal. It’s enough to get to 1k.

I’ll just have to shoot this one out and rebarrel with a longer one later haha

Picked up my bergara the other day and had a quick range trip with it yesterday, absolutely loving this gun.
B14 hmr 6.5 creedmoor, vortex viper pst gen2 5-25x50 mrad, 20 moa base, kelbly low picatinny rings.
Really excited to get out to some longer ranges and see what I'm capable of with this rifle.

Welcome to the club, this rifle is an absolute pleasure to shoot and with the right ammo you'll get absolutely amazing results for a non custom built out of it. Mine does really well with the Federal Gold Medal Match Berger 130gr., although the Hornady Match ammo also produces respectable results as far as over the counter ammo goes.

That's good to know about the federal, I picked up some of the American gunner just to get out this weekend, this coming week I'm going to get several different match loads and start figuring out what it really likes. Average group with the American gunner was .75" worst was about 1.1 and best was .3"
I dont have any loading equipment so for now I'm going to try and stick with factory loads.

That's about what I get out of mine .3" groups with the Federal Berger the rest fluctuate between .5" to .7". I usually just buy the factory loads, although one of my friends from the service has some loading equipment and I have used it a few times with really great results but I don't have the extra garage space at my house so I'll stick with the Federal Berger I'm happy with the results

Sonic - if you’re averaging 1/2 moa groups with factory ammo then you can be very content knowing you’re saving time for shooting that other guys (like me) are spending reloading to get comparable results. That’s excellent results for factory, not sure you’d see results improve enough to warrant time and expense of setting up to reload.

I picked up some factory match loads, several different brands & weights. Gonna go out this weekend and see how they perform.
Overall I'm very happy with this gun so far, just gotta get somewhere to start stretching it out.

You need minimal to no space to load! You can get a tabletop setup, or even a hand loader! All produce in my opinion, the same results. Do it. ;)

Still got to store the powder, brass, bullets, primers, scale, etc. ... I didn't say I've never done it, just that the way I would do it I would need way more space than what I currently have. Did plenty of it while I was in the service and before I bought the current house and sold all my reloading equipment. Who knows if the local state government keeps passing nincompoop laws we might move and an arms room with reloading equipment might just be one of my wants on the list. Until then I'll be satisfied the way my Bergaras, and the two custom builds shoot with the Hornady and the Federal Gold Medal Match.

Switched the Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 w/ Tenebraex 50VTX0-ARD from my .300 WinMag to the Bergara HMR 6.5 Creedmoor. I was kind of leery of getting the .95" Medium Vortex Matched Precision rings but I'm glad I did even though the turret makes it tight there was enough space for the Flatline Ops Slot Lock ADI mount underneath and the objective bell is as close to the barrel as it gets without touching for a 35mm tube scope.

Switched the ADI to where it has more clearance. The Slot lock mount with the ADI hanging down doesn't impair extraction, and I can easily adjust parallax and still read my angle.

Really like this rifle. I'd like to get that weibad cheek pad, but otherwise I'm happy with it as is. I'm shooting it so much, I'll probably need a new barrel this time next year. Has anyone found a source other than Bergara for pre-fit barrels? Is that even possible with the Bergara action?

Thanks for reminding me here are the Specs.:

-Bergara B-14 HMR 6.5mm Creedmoor 22" barrel
-Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50mm EBR-2B MOA reticle scope
-Vortex Switchview SV-2 Throw lever
-Vortex Anti-Cant Bubble level
-Vortex Defender Ocular and Objective Flip up Covers
-Tenebraex 50VTX0 ARD Killflash
-Patriot Valley Arms “Jet Blast”, Black Nitride, Self-timing, 6.5mm Creedmoor Muzzle Brake
-Talley 20 MOA Remington 700 Short Action Tactical Picatinny Rail
-Vortex 35mm Medium (0.95 Inches/24.13mm) Precision Matched Rings
-Sighthound Ballistics 6.5 Creedmoor Magazine I.D. Band, Coyote (so I don't accidentally get them confused with the same mags containing .308 for one of my other rifles)
-U.S. Sniper Tools Inc. Angle Degree Indicator (ADI)
-FlatLine Ops ADI Slot-Lok Mount
-B&T Industries BT17 1913 Picatinny Rail
-B&T Industries BT46-LW17 Atlas PSR Bipod
-B&T Industries BT34 1913 Picatinny Rail on Buttstock for Monopod
-B&T Industries BT12-QK Accu-Shot Standard Height Precision Rail Monopod
-B&T Industries BT43 Leveraged Rail for Atlas Bipods and Accu-Shot Monopods
-Quake ‘The Claw’, Sand Camo QD Flush Cup Sling
-Wiebad Cheek Riser Mini Pad for Bergara HMR, Coyote
-Short Action Precision 2 Rounder Velcro Ammo Patch 6.5 Creedmoor, Coyote
-ShadowTech LLC. PIG Skin 4.5" Velcro mounted Barricade Pad
-TriggerTech Remington 700 Special, RH, No Bolt Release, PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) Black, Curved Frictionless Trigger set to 2.8 lbs.
-#7 Plumber's Silicone O-Rings for the cheekriser posts so I don't have to fiddle with re-adjusting the cheekriser every time I remove the riser for cleaning. They are just tight enough so they don't slide on their own and loose enough so they can easily be removed should I ever want to sell this rig which is highly improbable.

Picked up a Premier Long Range in .300 Win Mag. Haven't had a ton of time to work up a load yet, but it shoots cheap factory loads sub-moa. Took it out Friday to bang some steel and it was pretty fun. Moves the steel around a little more then my 6.5CM. Best part was I'm able to spot my shots with a VG6 muzzle brake.

Where did you all purchase your Bergara rifles? Gun shop... Online gun shop... Gun vendor...

I'm thinking about buying a Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor and wondering where the best place to buy one would be... I've bought pistols online, but never a rifle... Worried about rough handling during shipping.

I bought mine from interstate guns, they are an online store and they are also a vendor here on the hide. At the time they gave me the best deal out there, shipping was quick, my rifle was packed well in cardboard and also in a soft padded rifle case. I’m not sure if they all come with the padded case or not.

Sportsman's Warehouse $1,499.00; if you have a store in town, or near you you don't need a transfer and they'll notify you as soon as it arrives so you can come get the NICS done and pick it up.

Not trying to derail the thread, but is the differences between the hmr and the pro really worth the extra 600.00 os so? I was really looking at the bmp but cant get my hands on one locally and it would be a special order and have to be bought prior to ordering. I really hate to do that without knowing if i would like chassis or not. The other two i can handle locally. Getting ready to get one of them and was wondering was the difference in price worth it.

Thanks in advance

Stainless vs. CroMoly, cerakote vs. blueing, machined bolt shroud vs, welded bolt shroud, fluted bolt vs. plain bolt, floating bolt head design with non-rotating gas shield, bayonet style firing pin assembly that allows for 1/4 turn tool less disassembly, TriggerTech Primary trigger (externally adjustable) vs. Bergara B-14 trigger (internally adjustable with less discernible clicks for ounces), more stable 8x40 scope base screws vs. 6x48 scope base screws - is it worth it?
For my taste I would say yes considering the price difference between CroMoly barrels and stainless, cerakote and blueing, the price of the Premier SA bolt around $300, the TriggerTech Primary at $145. Then again the Premier wasn't yet available when I got my HMR and I added the Premier SA bolt , TriggerTech Special, and cerakote so in the end I got a B14 HMR near Premier, except for the stainless and the Premier action but I've handled and shot several HMR Pros by now and the difference after all the improvements is not that much. Would I rather buy an HMR Pro if I had to do it over, yes I would just to save time and shipping and handling and taxes.

On thanks for the reply on that i havent had any real world experience with either other than handling them at the gun shop.

Cast and welded to be exact. I'll have to take a look at a new B14 at the store with the machined bolt shroud then. It was one of the reasons for me to upgrade to the Premier SA bolt.

Really cool thread. I'm considering a Bergara purchase so this has been really helpful. I'm a little nervous because of issues that seem to be popping up, but I know every rifle maker can make some lemons. I end up wondering if a Bergara is really worth the premium over a Howa or Vanguard. I do like the Bergara stocks for sure, though.

Well worth it, it's a keeper. I know I will keep mine until I pass it on in the family.
