Decided to piece together a rifle, coming from a military background using the M24 it’ll be fun to get back into it.

I plan on hunting (Almost 14 pounds loaded, I know ?) and shooting long range for fun. Might go to a match here and there.

ARC Nucleus action w/barloc
Patriot Valley Arms barrel in 6.5 PRC 24 inch w/mechforce enforcer brake, medium palma contour.
KRG Whiskey 3 gen 6/Harris bipod
Timney Calvin Elite Custom trigger
Sig Tango4 6-24x50 FFP MOA
Silencerco Omega 300 on the way

Going to be shooting factory ammo and loading my own. I plan on loading some 135/153 Hornady A-tips, Nosler ABLR 142/129 can’t decide to stay low weight over 3000fps or a little higher with better bc but slower speed...probably try out both. A lot of other options I’m considering as well but for now it’s Hornady Match and precision hunter. Hitting the range Saturday to get a baseline idea of how the rifle shoots, furthest steel is only 500 and I have high expectations.

I'm sure you'll be pleased with the overall package. I recently spent some time dialing in my Whiskey-3. I'm running a less than optimal ergonomic package, my opinion, to make getting into the eye box of my SIG Tango6 easier. It's a pretty nice piece of kit, though not light! I ran into a gent running the Tango4 you have on the range this past weekend and it seemed a touch more forgiving, so hopefully that's your experience as well.

Sent 60 through it today, range was closed so I just went out and shot at a small silhouette I have...roughly 12x19 I’d guess There were three of us shooting so no pics since the steel was shot to crap but the gun shot amazingly, I am very pleased. Rough zero at 200, moved to 700, made my adjustment and smacked three within the size of a tennis ball. It’s insane how good this thing shoots! Moved to 1040 and was making consistent hits, we didn’t repaint the steel so no idea on groups.

Overall it was good day, the thing kicks like a 22lr with the brake I could shoot it all day no problem. It is very loud though, double ear pro for sure.

I’ll get a 100 yard zero and some groups sometime.

That's fabulous and it is good to hear someone's experiences like this with a built from the ground up rifle.

I am new to the idea of long distance shooting, coming from the Barbie gun world (AR-style). I, too, am planning a 6.5 PRC build. I'm looking at a Defiance XM action and am currently trying to put together a list of chassis systems that will work for it.

Thanks for the update, and I look forward to seeing/reading more from you on your new tackdriver!

Pva uses the .188 freebore reamer in their 6.5prc chambers, which is fine in long actions. In short actions you will either have to jump a bit with 147eldm(.055") or single feed. I'm sure the atip and 150+ bullets will be same story. I have no problems with 140 eldm in my short action 6.5prc .188 chambers. They can be at the rifling and fit in mags.

Glad it's shooting well for you. I knew I'd regret selling that barreled action! Good to see it getting put to use though and great to hear it's shooting up the PVA's rep for accuracy.

This is very good info thank you. Looks like that potentially narrows down what I’ll be shooting.

No problem. You can still work up a elr load with the atip and single feed quickly when you want to shoot stupid far. This is 1500 or 1600, cant remember, 9 out of 10 on steel. 3-5mph fv wind and shooting into late sun in sept. Shooter was off and had me under target with first rd. 140eldm@3080fps and 4.5sd

I’ll have to do that then, I have no issues loading from a box.

Funny thing when I went through my precision school in the military, we weren’t allowed to use the internal mag on the m24. 700+ rounds over three weeks all fired single feed lol.
Very excited since a mile ultimately is a goal I would like to achieve.

Shot it a little more the last few weekends, one day at 720 on a small silhouette and it did great. Another tennis ball group with first three shots. Finally got around to actually zeroing it, shot a 5 shot group at 100 off an old rickety table and it did great. I’m sure prone or at a concrete table I won’t mess it up so much.

First three shots were the middle three almost touching, 4th I dropped low then 5th worked left up top. Shooting Hornady Precision Hunter. Definitely have a lot of room to improve on but for a hasty grouping between running the range for training I’m happy with it for now.

I got a work bench and set up my reloading stuff...can’t wait to get back into it and really hammer some long range stuff

Loaded up some stuff to test out.
Using reloader 25, started at 56gr and went .5 increments to 60gr. Only had time to shoot 3 loads. 56/56.5/57, no speeds yet. COAL was 2.960, max COAL to lands for my barrel is 2.986 so seeing .026 jump. I plan on working with the most accurate load and I’ll load up 5 more test loads around it in .1gr increments or something. 56.5 looks like a winner, .26 moa 4 shot group excepting the one I threw ?‍♂️ Shot prone off of my bipod with a sand sock under the stock.

Got my suppressor a few weeks ago and I’ve got 250+ rounds through the rifle now. It shoots lights out with my 143eldx loads, shot at 1041 yards the other day and had 11 hits in a row until I missed one. Shoots really nice it’s insane. I’ve really got the reloading bug and it’s awesome how good a gun will do when you get it figured out.

My first 6.5 PRC bolt gun as well...

CA Ridgeline, AI Legacy Chassis, CA tactical bolt knob, factory trigger set to 1.5lbs, Atlas bipod on spigot, Leupold MK 5-25 T3 in Mk4 rings and Warne Mtn Tech 20moa base. Have lots elevation available without holdover, and only need 20mil for a mile target. 100yd accuracy is stellar. Just under 12lbs unloaded. 6.5PRC recoil is negligible.

Fuck me, I can’t “like” this thread enough. This is close to what I want my dream build to be. With the barloc and that bolt face you have access to basically any bonkers chambering you could imagine. My father has a 7mm Rem Mag rifle from when my grandfather passed away and I’m trying as hard as I can to convince him to remage it to like 4 chamberings, one of which is 6.5 PRC

It has been very difficult to not buy 3/4 barrels and have an awesome setup. I have this thing so dialed in that I don’t want to change a single thing! I’m thinking about removing the barloc and making this a dedicated 6.5PRC then doing a barloc setup on my JAE chassis...so many options it’s amazing. I’m convinced that 6.5 PRC is one of the best all around cartridges there is in a short action.

JEA I bought just came in. I totally get why they are pricey, the quality is amazing. Might just hang this thing on my wall and never use it.

308 I’m putting together is coming along, mdt lss-xl came in for it as well. Can’t wait to shoot this thing.
