Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

Boom Boom! Two big, pregnant sows down off of a friend's place. I just started hunting this property for him,
And I have my work cut out. For reference, my rifle is over 37" long...

Not having the best luck with fur damage this year. On the other hand, they’re not going very far!

I dont do anything with the fur, have you had any luck with selling the fur?

Not really, my local guy pays 20-30 bucks for a good dog without me skinning it. He just wants a really good strip of fur from basically the back of the head to the tail. Some high end parka manufacturer uses coyote fur for around the hood.

This year I’m around 60% with the 50gr vmax exploding violently. Last year it mostly liquified the insides.

Hog was about 70 yards. Shot with Wilson Combat SR tactical 6.8 spc

We’ve had a couple good hauls this year, 7 on this night in particular. I think it will start getting good after this moon passes.

Nice haul indeed! What gear were you using? NV or thermal?
I use both, but the guys I hunt with are all thermal. I like the positive ID that I get at distance from NV. I shoot with a 203 Simrad in front of a NF SHV F1 and scan with a Axion XM38. Knock in on wood, but I feel like it’s a pretty bomb proof setup. We have a lot of smart dogs around here that like to skirt around from a safe distance. I’ve killed a handful over 300 yards already this year. Last one I shot was 370. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that with thermal as close as we hunt to farmsteads around here.

Taken last night, my first coyote. Been fox hunting for years and got plenty of those but never had a chance at a coyote.

NJ hunt so shotgun only; and NV is allowed (unlike my home state PA,, no NV but you can use rifle - go figure)

edit: added pic of my dad and son with it.

weighed in at 45lbs, dropped it off at the taxidermist to have the the hide tanned

That is bad ass Sir. Keep knocking them down.
The white tail yearlings appreciate it.

Young GA coyotes may be small but when they work in a team they ruin white tails terrain. Put em down.

Bulls where I hunt don’t fool around. One of my trail cams.

I've got three, and it's a sure bet that when I double them up in a pasture with cows this happens every time. It also happens when I put the up after they've been on cows for three months and separated from each other for most of that.

Fences only keep bulls that want to be kept.

It was my first time getting more than one in a night. Only did 2 stands but had to call for over an hour for each of my shots. Very shy coyotes, threw the whole damn sound library at them and finally got a shot under 200 for one and about 280 for the other one. Patience paid off for these. I couldn’t take pictures in the field, phone was too cold. I’m really getting comfortable with the Halo LR.

I hunted a few hours after dark for three nights this week. 7 coyotes killed and at least that many called in that I didn’t have a good or safe shot on.

Caught a pasture wrecker last night. I love early kills...means I get some decent sleep.

Got into a sounder that had hit my place hard last week. Killed three, hit a fourth well enough that I'm sure it died pretty quickly after it got off the ranch.

Good recent night hunt. 11 total on ground, another 8 ran off with bullet holes in them and not recovered.
Most shots under 15 yards. Had a sounder of about 40 mixed in with cattle and couldn't engage them.
