UPDATE: Received reply from the NYSRPA today.
----------
Thanks for your concern. We are aware of this proposed legislation it was actually introduced last session. Currently there are 130+ anti gun bills that are active and we follow all of their statuses. When it becomes evident a bill is starting to move we let our members know. Unfortunately because of the current political demographics(all 3 houses controlled by Democrats) there is little chance to stop legislation.

Wait. Did the citizens of Virginia also say "nah, can't do anything about it", and gave up?I am going to respond back to this with the prospect of starting a true to earnest 2nd Amendment Sanctuary movement in the state. If staffed with the right people who can deliver the same unity and resolve as Virginia Patriots have shown in the last few months, the NYSRPA can become our own version of the VCDL. Going to try to stoke some movement into the local gun boards too. Northeast Shooters Forum will be my first stop.![]()
Unfortunately NYC and it’s suburbs rule the state politically due to sheer numbers.Stop voting for communists and this kind of shit will stop happening.
Others have proposed similar laws. And, it's an impossible law, in that fulfilling that requirement will literally be impossible. You can be SURE that no insurance company will underwrite a policy that indemnifies the holder for committing a CRIME.
Actionable "damages" resulting from the use of a firearm are a CRIME. And, the notion of an insurance company indemnifying a policy holder against liability for breaking the law is LAUGHABLE.
So, either the lawmakers are idiots (entirely possible) for not even understanding what INSURANCE is. Or, they KNOW it's an impossibility, and they see it as a back door approach to disarmament. Of course, it won't work. But, they are desperate and will try anything. Or... they're simply idiots.
The insurance companies would LAUGH at this concept. In fact, ALL insurance policies specifically EXCLUDE liability resulting from illegal activity. I have malpractice insurance, but it won't pay if my actions that result in injury were CRIMINAL.
The proposed law mandates the purchase of a product that doesn't exist and will never exist.
They are only allowed to own these items while they are active duty, supposedly once they are no longer LEO they are treated as regular citizens, per a cop I know in long islandTom King is a RINO like most so called republicans in the NE.
In the good state of Virginia the majority of LEO support gun rights of the people and stand up for their rights.
NY LEO are exempt from these laws and can personally own high caps, buy whatever restricted weapons they want and can purchase suppressors for personal use so they really have no reason to stick up for people gun rights.
I know of a LEO in NY who bitched and cried recently because Larue and Barrett wont sell him an AR10 even though hes exempt from the restrictions.

Unfortunately NYC and it’s suburbs rule the state politically due to sheer numbers.
Like I said on page one of this thread, NY is a lost cause. Buffalo and Rochester could do a 180 politically and NYC and it’s suburbs would still control the state politically. That is why I plan on moving out once my wife retires. You could say that, but every district of the state sends communists to the state house and communists to the congress and communists in every local election. Just for fun......................................name the sanctuary cities and counties where the local government protects gun owners? I can name the dozens of upstate cities like Buffalo and Rochester where the local thug cops run the names in obituaries against the gun owners data base and then send armed goons to the homes of the dead to confiscate firearms or threaten to arrest family members who refuse to comply.
Dipshit Coumo only received 3.6 million votes last time. 5 million gun owners in the state. Guess where the problem lies? Its the 8 million illegals in the city. Our upstate votes don't matter much.
because our enemies mistake "law abiding" and civility for weakness.
