Daytona 500 tomorrow...

Bunch of the crew guys are on here, you all should be more respectful and they‘d probably talk to you lol

but I enjoy the lazy day with the race on, chillin, catching up on stuff

its about more than just the race for me,

rain delay right now, but still looking forward to the day and will stay camped out watching regardless

Old Motorsicle Flattrack 70=80s was great fun. Flingin dirt and diggin taters. Loved riding the TTs.
Don't know how to link it but Ytube has Vintage Flattrack crashes I was in as well as other events.
I always remember, Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

Hillclimb scene is quite fun plenty of amateurs running mustered out race cars (from rally to F1 and anything in between) or homebuild specials tuned to the max , runs are only about 2min long so much more power can be coaxed out of these engines.

In terms of motosport hillclimb racing is relatively low cost

I knew there was a reason I quit watching NASCAR. Remember the days of Rain-x and grooved rain tires, along with rubbed paint. Wake me up when the racing starts. Mac:(

Suppose to rain until 11 pm so I think they will have to run it tomorrow.

These days, pit crews win races...

It was really pouring so this is a bad example, but i say they need to put on some tread tires and run them when it rains. Rain or shine. No more fairweather NASCAR. If they can only run 100mph so be it. 100 in the rain may separate the men from the boys.

F1 races in the rain even with the ballerina drivers they use.

Whether you like nascar or not, Probably the last place on earth where you will see someone kneeling during the anthem , just saying!

Here's the headline:

"Driver kneels during National Anthem at NASCAR Race -- Immediately Beaten to Death by Own Pit Crew!"

Cheers,

Just talked to a buddy, and sorta repeating what has already been said, it doesn’t sound good. Damn

Ya I just looked at a replay and they cut out the Lajoie hit in it, the fact most racing sites are quiet is not good.

used to watch Don Lajoie race at the Danbury Fairgrounds in 7/11 Corey’s granddad

the driver side of the car was crushed in bad, he center punched it

plus Newman and his wife announced a separation a week ago before the season, she probably wasn’t at the track

Newman is a big dude hopefully he was only knocked out.

This is a time where you hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Just being turned into the wall like that is bad enough, but to take that kinda hit basically at head level where the car doesn't have as much protection, is devastating. For those that don't know, Ryan and his wife announce on the 13th that they would be separating. I don't know what that's all about, but the poor guy hasn't had a very good week.

Prayers for him and his family, he does have 2 small daughters. I believe that took him to Halifax, so he's at a good hospital. I just know if any hospital will be good enough.

God Bless!

They are staging something outside the hospital according to the news. Hopefully it’s good news.

I caught a replay video. The way the entire driver's window was crushed is not a good sign. Plus the way everyone is saying nothing, the black screens, and Jeff Gordon trying to maintain his composure is not a good thing.

I always liked Ryan too.

The roof got crushed but the window net was still intact. All the roll bar looks to be in tact, just moved. The top of the door was also moved. A LOT. Ryan being as big as he is, is not a good thing.

Where are all the tough guys who were talking shit about NASCAR drivers yesterday?!? I'm sure they've survived nastier crashes.

I'm hoping the guy is OK. It takes balls to strap into any car and go fender-to-fender, much less at 200 MPH alongside a bunch of guys who value winning as much as (or more so than) life itself.

It sucks when you’re happy to hear someone’s in serious condition. Hats off to the rescue personnel at the track.

Although watching all the fuel pouring out while it was burning, I was yelling at the tv for them to get there, they clearly did a great job.

Dudes that built his car saved his life, it unbelievable anyone can survive those wrecks

I was too , that was a lot of fuel I thought the car was going to burst into flames before they got out of the truck for sure. The car building team saved his life tonight.

Glad newmans ok ( alive and not life threatening). So I guess I will be the asshole and just go ahead and say it. Everyone is talking about how well the cars are built and how safe they are .Well then isn't it time to take the restrictor plates off and let's see what the cars can really do .

Does that fuel use some kind of a additive to prevent it from catching? That amount of fuel next to an open flame ignition source and splashed/atomized everywhere should have ignited.

Is the fuel formulated with an additive to prevent fire?

Good race, but it’s turning into the NFL. Last 20 laps take 1.5 hours. Too much strategizing and bumping and pushing and train-building. Race or don’t. half the eve w as exciting as rush hour on 495 around DC. Which is to say.... cars parked on the road bore me.

Cheers, Sirhr

Best wishes for Ryan.

With that said.
WTF is this?

Relax. It's okay. People do have different ideas on what they like and dislike.
Are you really that emotionally invested in NASCAR?

That surprised me too.
