I got a question for you guys:

I shoot with a SilencerCO Harvester 300, and I noticed the end of my threads on my barrel have been getting some carbon build-up on them. Do you think it would be a good idea to use a crush washer to reduce the threads exposure or is this a bad idea?

First picture is without crush washer and the second photo is with one.

I have a second adapter with a different thread pitch for a different and the barrel doesn’t extend as far into the suppressor so that the threads get carbon on them.

I am going to try it with the crush washer ?

Your asking for a baffle strike:)

If you must do this a shim would be better than a crush washer. Crush washer is asking for baffle strike and inconsistency when removing and reattaching suppressor

I like the shim idea if the fouling on the threads are an issue. But it probably isn’t an issue unless accuracy suffers.

You could try shims and see if it changed group size and then decide which way to go. I have seen excess thread prutrusion on some 22LR cans cause a big increase in group size.

I have two from SilencerCo. The one that is causing me issues is the 1/2-28. The 9/16-24 fits flush with the threads.
I also bought them on the same day, and was surprised by the design of the 1/2-28 adapter when it arrived as I hadn’t seen any on their website that resembled it. (They were selling all their accessories at a steep discount ).

Got a response from SilencerCo and they stated that (1) my 1/2-28 adaptor is threaded normally, (2) they aren’t interested in exchanging it and (3), just for good measure, decided to neg me for not cleaning the threads “for a long while....”

Ughh, I had been cleaning the threads for 10 min right before taking the photo, which made me think there has to be a better way.

Throw some boretech C4 on the threads and let it sit... or CLR like HuskyDriver said.

As for SilencerCo’s response, I am not surprised. Their CS isn’t great.

i haven't shot mine yet but have the 5/8-24 and 1/2-28 adapters for my harvester that is still in jail. neither of my adapters look like your 1/2-28.

edit: sorry, looks like you figured it out already. should have read the thread first before posting.
