I seem to have a burr or something in my chamber. I've used about half of a white tee for patches trying to clean it out but no dice, sucker is in there for sure. Factory barrel with 200> shots fired.

The scratch is deep enough that I can feel it with a fingernail but not enough to catch on it. With it being so close to the shoulder/neck area I dont really want to try polishing it out with my flex hone, but I dont want to send it back to Savage either. Shooting/reloading is keeping me busy during quarantine and who knows how long it'd take to get it back.

Any insight on this? Is there any danger in reloading these cases? Am I being concerned over something purely cosmetic?

Thanks!

I watched a video and it was dealing with this scratch saying it’s actually not from the chamber but when extracting the round. The round is jumping up and hitting on the action and scraping before it’s ejected.

I believe Jim See posted it but I cannot find it right now.

what action?

It's a Savage short action. I tried my best to slide the dummy into the chamber without touching anything and the same for extracting but you may be correct. I cant see anything in there but I dont have a bore scope to get a good look either.

If you think that its something in the chamber try to clean it out. Maybe a bore brush that fits and some solvent and rotate it. Maybe a bore mop with some Flitz. A cotton swab run around the chamber mouth and the edge of the action may show where there is a burr that can be stoned off. I would take steps to find whats causing it.

I've shot scratched cases before . But not being able to actually see yours I hesitate to offer advice.
